Licensed Vocational Nurse - Outpatient OncologyCancer Center ServicesFull TimeJob SummaryUnder the supervision of the Nurse Manager and guided by the procedures of Ambulatory Services, the Licensed Vocational Nurse is responsible for providing nursing care to patients in the ambulatory setting. The LVN will play a critical role in the patient experience including optimizing clinic flow, providing in and outreach to patients and working collaboratively with the team to create a patient-centered environment. In collaboration with providers, the LVN has the clinical responsibility for developing and maintaining a high standard of patient care. S/he is responsible for daily clinical operations and maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff. All components of nursing care will be individualized to meet the patient's physiological, psychosocial, cultural, and developmental level and needs. The LVN consistently projects a professional and courteous demeanor, helps establish and maintain the highest service standards for the practice and complies with the Medical Center House and Telephone Standards.Department DescriptionThe UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center is an accredited National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Center. As a Comprehensive Cancer Center, we demonstrate the added depth and breadth of research as well as substantial transdisciplinary research that bridges these scientific areas.Required QualificationsActive Licensed Vocational Nurse licensure in the State of CaliforniaActive American Heart Association CPR CertificationMinimum of one (1) year of recent LVN experience in ambulatory outpatient clinic settingThe ability to prioritize multiple tasks, while providing the highest quality of customer serviceWorking experience with clinical procedures: IM injections, post-op wound care, assisting with sterile proceduresWorking experience and understanding of genomic testing and pathology processing including authorization processKnowledge of COVID protocols and coordination of care workflowsExperience developing and implementing new workflowsExperience providing staff educationExcellent communication skills with all levels of staffBasic computer skills (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locationsPreferred QualificationsFamiliarity with Electronic Medical Record systemsExperience working in an academic health systemMinimum of five (5) years experience within an oncology settingMinimum of two (2) years healthcare experience in an outpatient women's health or cancer center with complex procedures or similar environmentPhlebotomy License
