Job Summary

The LVN utilizes the nursing process to assess and identify the individual needs of patients through observation of disease symptoms, emotional state, laboratory reports, cultural and socio-economic background and response to medical regimen and treatment. Under the direction of the Charge Nurse or manager, the LVN will assist with review of new patient referrals, triage provider in basket messages, and assist with rooming patients as needed.

This role will primarily be covering clinical home team phone lines.

This individual will utilize their good customer service and communication skills on a daily basis via phone/electronic contact, mail correspondence, and personal contact with both internal and external customers. The LVN will utilize computer skills in Apex and other UCSF computerized programs. This role supports the standards of the policies and procedures of the practice and is responsible for maintaining current knowledge of pharmacology and competency in modes of administration, and complies with all Ambulatory Services and Medical Center policies and procedures for infection control, safety, and administrative and clinical practice. The LVN is required to adhere to the Telephone and House Standards as adopted by the Medical Center, as well as demonstrating UCSF's PRIDE values and the AIDET fundamentals of communication in all patient care and stakeholder interactions.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. Required Qualifications

Experience in neurosciences as a Medical Assistant/LVN for one (1) year or moreKnowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position, including demonstrated excellent communication skills, problem-solving ability, and high comfort level with learning new technology/systemsBasic computer/keyboarding skillsPrior experience with electronic systems/recordsDemonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

Spanish, Chinese, or Russian language skillsMore than two (2) years related experience in similar environmentExperience in Epilepsy

License/Certification

Active Licensed Vocational Nurse licensure in the State of CaliforniaActive American Heart Association CPR Certification
