Systems ProgrammerLocation:
Candidates must be local to Washington DC or Reston VA. Selected candidates will have to travel to client location at least once a week.
We are staffing a Senior Systems Programmer for a contract-to-hire position with our direct client. The candidate must be eligible for direct permanent employment. This position is hybrid.
Responsibilities:
Defines, designs, and develops system requirements.Performs trade-off analysis of performance, life-cycle cost, risk, producibility, and other system or program requirements.Assesses architecture and current hardware limitations, defines and designs system specifications, and evaluates input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.Coordinates design of subsystems and integration of total system.Defines system support requirements to include monitoring, capacity, staffing, and patching/updating.Analyzes and resolves program support deficiencies.Conducts independent technical investigations in systems design.
Job Requirements:
8-10 years of experience in a senior Mainframe Systems Programmer role.Hands-on experience as an Infrastructure Engineer.Experience building robust Mainframe environments.Scripting and process automation experience.Extensive knowledge of Mainframe Systems methodology and frameworks.5-10 years of z/OS Systems Programming experience.Experience with CICS TS for z/OS, CICS Webservices, MQ for z/OS, DB2 for z/OS, Control-M for z/OS, IBM System Automation for z/OS, REXX Programming, and z/OSMF.Ability to support various project teams and their mainframe-related needs on a day-to-day basis.Ability to leverage skills to automate configuration processes on the mainframe using the above toolset.Extensive knowledge of MQ Series.Extensive SDLC experience with some development or Systems programming experience.Ability to analyze and troubleshoot mid-tier/infrastructure issues.Very strong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to facilitate technical requirements gathering and design sessions.Collaborate and interpret business and technical needs.Excellent attention to detail and quality work products.Strong customer service skills with internal and external customers.Must be able to perform assigned tasks with minimum supervision.Strong analytical and documentation skills.Excellent time management ability.
