General Thoracic Surgeon

to join our established and highly respected practice at Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital Plano.Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital – Plano is ranked #27 in the nation for Cardiology & Heart Surgery in the U.S. News & World Report 2020-21 Best Hospitals list. The hospital also achieved “High Performing” in six types of care: Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair, Aortic Valve Surgery, Heart Bypass Surgery, Congestive Heart Failure, Lung Cancer Surgery and TAVR.Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital – Plano has earned a distinguished 3-star rating from The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) for its patient care and outcomes in four categories: aortic valve replacement surgery (AVR), isolated coronary bypass graft (CABG) and AVR plus CABG surgery and mitral valve repair/replacement (MVRR). The 3-star rating places Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital – Plano among the most elite for cardiac surgery in the United States and Canada.THH has a thoracic Surgeon who is a leading instructor for robotic procedures for Intuitive Surgical. We wish to recruit someone to augment and expand these services.We also wish to expand the depth and breadth of general thoracic services offered and maintain the highest quality care which mirrors the cardiac program.Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have:Completed ACGME-accredited cardiothoracic residency program.Ability to provide the full spectrum of non-cardiac general thoracic surgical services, including treatment of benign and malignant pulmonary and esophageal disorders.Added training or qualifications in minimally invasive surgical techniques, including robotics, is required.Interest in foregut, esophageal & interventional airway procedures is desired.Potential for airway interventions including EBUS and esophageal interventions, including benign foregut procedures including Heller myotomy, fundoplication, and stenting.Emphasis on minimally invasive techniques for diagnosis and treatment of both benign and malignant disease.Candidates must be board certified or board eligible (no VISA sponsorship), and fellowship trainees may apply as well.
