Job Description: Senior Corporate AccountantLocation:

Portland, MEReports to:Position Summary:The Senior Corporate Accountant will play a crucial role in the financial health by providing accurate and timely financial information. This position will oversee various accounting functions, including general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, and tax compliance. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting skills, excellent analytical abilities, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity.Responsibilities:Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other relevant accounting standards.Assist in the preparation of financial reports for management and external stakeholders.General Ledger Maintenance:Maintain the general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, and account analysis.Oversee the closing process and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.Monitor and reconcile balance sheet accounts.Tax Compliance:Assist in the preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns.Ensure compliance with tax regulations and deadlines.Research and implement tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities.Accounting Systems:Assist in the implementation and maintenance of accounting systems and software.Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.Project Management:Participate in special projects and initiatives as needed.Analyze and evaluate financial data to support business decisions.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.CPA certification preferred.Minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate accounting.Strong technical accounting skills and knowledge of GAAP.Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Additional Skills:Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle).Knowledge of financial modeling and forecasting techniques.Experience with mergers and acquisitions.
