That's why we offer a flexible hybrid work model that allows you to collaborate with office colleagues on some days, and work from home on others.What we Do:Federal Reserve Financial Services (FRFS) delivers a suite of payments services to financial institutions via FedLine Solutions, Fedwire, National Settlement Service (NSS), FedCash, FedACH (Automated Clearing House), Check Services, and the FedNow Service. In 2020, we undertook a strategic effort to transform FRFS from a product and support office framework to a national, enterprise-focused organization. The enterprise structure integrated the prior retail, wholesale, cash, and customer relations product and support offices into a new organization, which was further joined by the FedNow team in early 2024. Our North Star strategy, with the new structure, is to offer a fully integrated product suite that provides speed, resilience, and choice in meeting the payments needs of financial institutions across the United States.The FedCash Services group within FRFS is seeking a Data and Policy Analyst to join the Cash Insights and Policy Analysis (CIPA) team. FedCash Services provides operational mentorship and technology strategies for U.S. currency and coin supplied to depository institutions by the 12 Federal Reserve Banks. To help FedCash Services set its strategic direction and make sound business decisions, the CIPA team conducts qualitative and quantitative research on payment system trends, focusing on their relationship with cash, and considers innovations in cash operations and the related eco-system.The Data and Policy Analyst contributes a problem-focused and innovation-oriented lens to the broader mission of CIPA and FedCash Services.Research a limited set of complex policy and operational issuesEvaluate the effectiveness of existing policies and operational models; identify emerging policy issues, and opportunities, as well as develop, provide analysis of, and recommend viable alternativesPrepare high-quality, well-written deliverables and present them to a range of audiences, including external stakeholders and senior Bank and System leaders; support the development of recommendations for actionLead and support project teams on tasks and goals; be responsible for the development and refinement of research questions, work plans, and analytical approaches with minimal directionPartner with application developers to maintain, improve and/or create data management systemsResponsibilities:Build extensive knowledge of cash and payments policiesConduct original research using internal and external data to further business line knowledge and surface meaningful business trends through the application of quantitative and qualitative methodsEmploy critical thinking skills to formulate research questions and execute analytical projects as part of a research agendaPrepare high-quality products and present them to a range of audiencesLead and/or participate in efforts to improve business systems and processes, in conjunction with partners and managementServe as a resource to policy analysts or project team members in support of project or analytical tasksQualifications:An undergraduate degree in economics, statistics, public policy, finance, or a similar field, preferably with a focus in data science or analytics; master's degree in public policy, economics, business, operations science/management, or a related field a plusTypically requires 2 or more years of professional experience, ideally related to public policy, economics, banking, finance, operations, or governmentExcellent problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills, with an ability to uncover obscure relationships which are not apparently relatedExpertise in SQL, Excel, and Microsoft Office suite applications; hands-on knowledge of statistical or mathematics applications and programming languages (e.g., SAS, Stata, R) strongly preferredDemonstrated ability to apply quantitative and statistical approaches (e.g., regression analysis) as well as experience in using a variety of research methods and other analytical techniquesEffective written and verbal communication skillsExcellent interpersonal and consensus-building skills; ability to work independently and lead members of a team in an environment with diverse sets of stakeholdersMust be a US Citizen or Green Card holder with the intent to become a US CitizenBase Salary Range: Min: $78,200 - Mid: $101,700 - Max: $124,900 (Location: San Francisco)Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant's background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with market data.We offer a wonderful benefits package including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Pre-tax Flexible Spending Account, Backup Child Care Program, Pretax Day Care Flexible Spending Account, Vacation Days, Sick Days, Paid Holidays, Pet Insurance, Matching 401(k), and a Retirement / PensionWe will ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment.At the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, we believe in the diversity of our people, ideas, and experiences and are committed to building an inclusive culture that is representative of the communities we serve.#LI-HybridJob Type:
