Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University. The full salary range for this position is $128,800 to $252,200 /year. The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $145,000 to $170,000/year.Work Location:

The Office of Summer Sessions orchestrates a robust selection of educational opportunities to empower students to meet or exceed their individualized academic goals through credit-bearing summer study. We support student success by offering a vast curriculum of in-person and online courses, creatively addressing affordability and accessibility, and curating academic programs tailored to the needs of specific student populations.Brief Summary of Job Duties:

The Director of Summer Sessions is responsible for managing administrative services and general operations of Summer Sessions at UCSB. Establishes operational objectives and work plans, and delegates assignments to the Assistant Director, Business & Finance Manager, Senior Academic and Curriculum Analyst, and Academic Program Director. Responsible for managing, preparing, administering, and directing resources including summer programs, budgets, marketing, and personnel. Works directly with deans, administrators, faculty, campus administrators, Academic Senate, and the broader community. Makes decisions on administrative or operational matters and ensures achievement of objectives.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.Excellent ability to establish metrics for department and employee goals.Thorough knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques; human resources and risk management planning; accounting and payroll.Excellent skills to work collaboratively and act persuasively in sensitive situations; skills in conflict management techniques.Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively lead, motivate and influence others and to develop and maintain high standards of customer service.Excellent project management skills.Very strong ability to quickly evaluate complex issues and identify multiple options for resolution.Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to influence / persuade all levels of staff.Expert analytical / problem-solving skills.Management and supervisory skills working with professional and support staff to implement and manage programs related to the functions of the office.7-9 years operations/supervisory and leadership experience; Proven experience in leading effective teams and individuals, managing organizational change and initiating key innovations.7-9 years work experience in higher education as an administrator.7-9 years administration management including supervision of staff, fiscal interpretation and knowledge, and strong communication and interpersonal skills.Preferred Qualifications:Master's Degree.7-9 years of experience in academic administration or a combination of related work and/or educational experience with a solutions-oriented approach.4-6 years of experience with the curriculum planning process.7-9 years of experience developing new systems, leading change, or overseeing improvements.Expert knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for budget, accounting and fund management, and / or personnel management.Broad knowledge of the organization's processes, protocols and procedures with a focus on budget, account and fund management and / or personnel management under labor contract(s) and personnel policy.Broad knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs.Special Conditions of Employment:Occasional altered work schedule including evenings and weekends required.Satisfactory conviction history background check.UCSB is a Tobacco-Free environment.Job Functions and Percentages of Time:40% Management and Operation of Summer Sessions

- Manages, plans and administers administrative operations and general operations of Summer Sessions at UCSB. Serves as key administrative officer for Summer Sessions. Responsible for managing, preparing, administering, and directing resources. Makes decisions on administrative or operational matters and ensures achievement of objectives. Maintains integrity of Summer Sessions through management and oversight of staff.30% Financial Management

- Oversees the financial resources of Summer Sessions which includes the annual campus provision, revenue-generated income, extramural and intramural grants and donor funds.30% Strategic Planning and Management

- Provides support to the EVC, AVC, and deans as the summer curriculum is being planned.UC Vaccination Programs Policy:
