Researching and analyzing tax issues using RIA Checkpoint.Job DutiesRuns financial accounting reports for each line of business, posts federal tax adjustments and prepares income tax returns. Consolidates financial information for tax reporting purposes, and reconciles audited financial statements consolidated based on ownership structure to tax returns prepared by filing entity as registered with the IRS. Maintains tax workpapers and documents tax positions.Prepares quarterly estimates of taxable income for the lines of business, and estimated tax due by the business owners.Prepares estimates of tax due for a private foundation and required minimum donations.Calculates the income tax effect of transactions related to acquisition and disposition of business assets. Collaborates with members of the accounting teams of each line of business and the family office. Supervises and trains associates and reviews their work.Essential FunctionsParticipates in the preparation of the tax workpapers and the federal and multi-state income tax returns for S corporations, LLCs and the individuals who own them. Supervises tax staff and reviews tax returns and tax return workpapers. Provides comments and proposes changes to returns and working papers. Assists in training.Prepares complex returns and analysis for review by the Tax Director.Supports Tax Director, Sr Tax Director, and General Counsel by providing analysis and support on special projects.Supports other Broe Management departments by providing support and research for a variety of topics including transactions.Improves tax administration by developing and streamlining procedures; evaluating new software; preparing and updating internal guidelines; preparing and maintaining documentation.Protects organization value by keeping information confidential; cautioning others regarding potential breaches.Improves tax and management job knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.Experience and EducationHas extensive experience with the preparation of income tax returns for pass-through entities, high-net worth individuals, trusts, gift tax returns and private foundations.Has experience with development and leasing of commercial and residential real estate – including issues related to repair and maintenance regulations 1.263(a), Sec 263A uniform capitalization rules, depreciation, like-kind exchanges, Sec. 163(j) interest expense limitation, Sec. 469 passive activity loss rules.Has experience with calculation of tax capital accounts, at-risk basis and reconciling the differences between book and tax capital. Has experience with income tax allocations under Sec 704(b).Has experience with reconciling AAA to retained earnings and tracking shareholder basis.Has experience in reading and analyzing the IRC and Regulations.Minimum 5 years of experience in public accounting required.CPA required.Bachelor's degree required.Master’s in Taxation – preferred.Reports toReports to the Tax Director.Ability to develop and mentor others.
