RK&K has an opportunity for a Structural/Bridge Engineer in our Richmond and Virginia Beach offices. The successful candidate will prepare designs of bridges and other transportation related structures for a variety of project types and clients, from preliminary concepts to final construction plans.
Essential FunctionPrepare and check structural calculations and plansCalculate and check quantities for bridge construction projectsLead bridge inspection assignments in the fieldDevelop, write, review, and submit inspection reportsPerform bridge load ratingsRequired Skills and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required.NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges course with Refresher Training within the last 5 yearsRegistration as an Engineering in Training (EIT) (passed the FE exam) is required.Experience in learn design and CADD computer software such as STADD Pro, VBent, MicroStation, and various other structural programs and bridge condition inspection reporting software.Effective oral and written communications skillsField work is requiredPreferred Skills and ExperienceMaster's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.Professional Engineer's license in the Commonwealth of Virginia or ability to obtain within 6 months of employmentOther RequirementsValid driver's license and favorable driving recordAbility to lift up to 50 poundsBe able to climb ladders and work at heightsAbility to communicate effectively - verbal and writtenAbility to travel throughout Virginia with occasional travel to Maryland and North CarolinaOccasional consecutive overnight staysWork in an outside environment with exposure to snakes, spiders, insects, and poisonous plantsWhat We OfferRK&K offers excellent potential for career advancement and professional growth.
