Job Summary:

The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for the overall management and leadership of the nursing department. This role involves overseeing nursing staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and standards. The DON works closely with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement policies and procedures that enhance patient outcomes and staff performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management:

Oversee daily operations of the nursing department, including staffing, scheduling, and workflow.

Lead, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff to ensure high standards of care and professional development.

Develop and implement departmental goals, objectives, and policies in alignment with the facility’s mission and strategic plan.

Patient Care and Quality Assurance:

Ensure that patient care is delivered in accordance with best practices, standards, and regulatory requirements.

Monitor and evaluate patient outcomes and nursing practices, implementing improvements as needed.

Address and resolve patient and family concerns and complaints effectively.

Compliance and Regulations:

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including accreditation standards and quality assurance measures.

Maintain accurate records and documentation as required by regulatory agencies and facility policies.

Financial Management:

Assist in budgeting and financial planning for the nursing department.

Manage resources effectively, including supplies and equipment, to optimize operational efficiency.

Education and Training:

Develop and implement ongoing education and training programs for nursing staff.

Stay current with advancements in nursing practices and healthcare regulations, ensuring the department is up to date with best practices.

Collaboration and Communication:

Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians and administrative staff, to ensure coordinated patient care.

Communicate effectively with staff, patients, and families to foster a positive and supportive environment.

Emergency and Crisis Management:

Oversee and participate in emergency and crisis management planning and response, ensuring staff are prepared and equipped to handle critical situations.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) required; master’s degree in nursing or healthcare administration preferred.

Licensure:

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in [State/Country].

Experience:

Minimum of [X] years of nursing experience, including [Y] years in a leadership or management role.

Skills:

Pay:

$92,886.00 - $97,947.00 per year
