Oversees and manages the Digital and Film Photography lab for the Department of Art + Art History. Maintains the equipment, lab space, and inventory levels. Serves as safety officer. Serves as liaison with FIU Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) for the digital and lab facilities.Oversees the day-to-day activities of the VH Digital and Film Photography Lab. Coordinates and performs general lab maintenance and equipment repairs.Provides technical assistance and training to faculty, staff, and students. Schedules equipment demonstrations and keeps a log of training sessions.Supervises the operation of Color Processor, Black & White Enlargers, Color Enlargers, mix chemistry and stock solutions for B & W and Color. Checks the chemical levels in the holding tanks, mix chemicals, stock solutions, regulate temperature, adjust revolutions, developer and bleach/fix pumps, water pressure and regulate dryer temperature.Provides support to student and faculty projects, grants, research, and creative work that utilize lab equipment and facilities.Supervises students and student assistants using all Digital and Film Photography Lab equipment.Requests quotes, prepares requisitions, track purchases, inventory and expenses, receives and processes orders. Maintains financial records, processes request, invoices, budget requisitions, purchase orders, and credit card purchases. Serves as a University card user for departmental transactions. Adheres to University credit card policies and procedures.Serves as safety officer as liaison with FIU Environmental Health and Safety (EHS). Implements policies and procedures relating to health, life, and safety in the studio and associated spaces, in accordance with FIU EHS policies.Conducts regular scheduled maintenance on digital printers and computers (updating OS, software, etc.).Conducts a quarterly inventory. In consultation with faculty, orders materials and equipment as needed for lab maintenance and operation.Cleans all counter tops, enlarger stalls, enlarging lenses, condensers and diffusion chambers in the assigned area.Works with faculty to obtain quotes for equipment and service. Reports software updates that are needed before the end of each semester.May supervise, train, and schedule student employees.Keeps a log of lab use and statistics to determine effective space and time management. Makes recommendations for better utilization of time and space.Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma and seven (7) years of related experience or Associate's and five (5) years of related experience.Desired Qualifications

From five to seven years of experience in college/university lab supervision.Previous experience in the maintenance and upkeep of photographic equipment, particularly the processor used in color photo printing.Job Category
