The Government Affairs Department of the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) supports strategic initiatives throughout the agency, develops and maintains strategic partnerships, and plays a key role in narrative setting through relational organizing. Under the direction of the Manager, Community Relations, the Sr. Coordinator, Community Relations will lead Homeless Count volunteer recruitment efforts and build out volunteer initiatives to keep more people engaged year-round, so we can start to create a corps of volunteers who can also become advocates for LAHSA. The Sr. Coordinator, Community Relations works with communities, cities, and relevant county departments to coordinate the recruitment of volunteers and workers to conduct and promote the Count, including leading cross-functional teams that plan and execute unsheltered Point In Time (PIT), youth Point In Time (PIT), shelter count/housing inventory, and demographic survey; volunteer recruitment, training, and engagement; oversight of contracts with Homeless Count consultants and vendors; and submission of the LA CoC results to HUD.Outreach and Marketing for the Homeless Count

Provide strategic guidance and workplans to Directors and staff on working with communities, cities, and relevant county departments to coordinate the recruitment of volunteers and workers.Lead cross-functional teams that plan and execute unsheltered PIT, youth PIT, shelter count/housing inventory, and demographic survey.Develop, execute, negotiate, and oversee contracts with HC consultants and vendors.Navigate Nation Builder website and track volunteer recruitment numbers.Assist in engagement with the Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and/or LinkedIn Community.Work with the Communications Department Specialist to update social media websites daily with up-to-date information surrounding the count and other important news and updates.Assist with promoting the Count, printing of flyers, and newsletters to be placed on community organizations and college campuses.Homeless Count Planning Activities

Support Community Engagement Coordinators with daily tasks that require attention, i.e., supply and resource preparation, assist in communicating with community partners.Pre-outreach activities to identify hot spots alongside service providers and others.Assist in engaging new partners in the Homeless Count, including community organizations, educational institutions, local businesses, law enforcement, elected officials, etc.Aid in the development and coordination of Count documents and materials, including outreach flyers, tally sheets, training presentations, and other tools.Help with coordinating volunteers and facilitating donations.Assist in obtaining a comprehensive list of shelters, including calling shelters to submit their homeless count tally sheets.Assist in preparation for the Youth Count.Support the night of Count logistics, as needed.Assist in creating the materials required for the Count using MS Excel and Word.Enter data from hard copies of tally sheets to electronic format.Administrative Duties

Provide strategic direction to Statistical and Demographic Survey consultant with quality assurance review of data collection, data management, and statistical analysis methods and protocols.Develop communication workplan of overall LA CoC and local results, spokespersons preparation and training, and material dissemination.Manage requests for data and information, and other requests from municipalities, council of governments, homeless coalitions, neighborhood councils, community partners, and other stakeholders.Assist with preparation of presentations and other meetings, as needed.Assist in taking notes and summarizing the results of meetings.Assist with other Policy and Systems Department duties and projects assigned by the supervisor.Support designated staff from the Policy & Systems Department and Community Engagement Unit as needed.Aid in the development and coordination of Count documents and materials, including outreach flyers, training presentations, the youth demographic survey, and other tools.Support with daily tasks that require attention, i.e., supply and resource preparation.Attend and participate in weekly team check-ins as required.Support the night of Youth Count logistics, as needed.Perform other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications

Proficient in MS Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, and Excel.Ability to perform basic data management and calculations using MS Excel.Ability to create and edit tables and forms on MS Word.Experience using electronic survey tools (e.g., Survey Monkey, Qualtrics).Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.Ability to work independently, be proactive, and exercise good judgment.Excellent time management and organization skills.Familiarity with social media, especially Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.Strong attention to detail.Proven professional experience and educational background.Schedule
