Here, it's different.Job OverviewMaintains and operates cameras that detect and map radioactive drugs in a patient's body to create diagnostic images, provides conscientious patient care while adhering to all quality and safety standards; and performs administrative duties (such as scheduling appointments, patient instructions, and maintenance of records). Maintains safety training and competencies for handling and administering radiopharmaceuticals.Responsible for evaluating and monitoring the quality of all diagnostic radiographic procedures and provides day-to-day direction to other NM technologists and students in all aspects of care and imaging to expedite patient flow through the Radiology department.Additional InformationDepartment Name: Nuclear MedicineJob Status: Full-Time; 40 hours/week - eligible for benefitsShift: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm; no holidays or weekendsQualificationsEDUCATION:

Graduation from an accredited nuclear medicine programEXPERIENCE:

Two years of diagnostic radiographic experience required. 3-5 years Nuclear Medicine Tech experience in hospital setting strongly preferred. Supervisory/Lead Tech experience strongly preferred.CERTIFICATION(S):

BLS; ARRT Registered Technologist with Nuclear Medicine discipline or a NMTCB Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT)ResponsibilitiesPOPULATION SPECIFIC CAREProvides patient care to all of these age groups:Neonate -

These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.Oversees radiographic images and monitors quality for all NM diagnostic radiographic procedures.Facilitates patient flow on a daily basis.Independently produces high quality images while accurately demonstrating anatomy and pathology through proper diagnostic scanning.Provides age appropriate care and appropriately prepares patients for procedures.Provides clear and detailed information regarding the procedure and care to patients, families, coworkers and others.Demonstrates the ability to safely operate all Nuclear Medicine equipment, including PET; and ancillary equipment as needed.Demonstrates and utilizes principles of ALARA in radiation safety management.Demonstrates competency in all aspects of RIS and PACs as it pertains to modality specific functions and use.Manages patient priority and acts as first responder when needed.Follows department policies, procedures and protocol.Demonstrates initial and annual competency in IV placement and securement, and extravasation handling.Responsible for ordering, handling, recording and administering radioactive materials in compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.Participates in procedure review and writing.Participates in competency assessment.Responsible for the coordination and/or oversight of projects and initiatives as defined by leadership.Directs the technologist in their daily work and assists with technologist scheduling.Oversees student and new hire training in the radiology department and communicates with the school and/or supervisor as required.Other InformationSCOPE AND LEVELFully qualified, full performance or journey level.
