Job OverviewPerforms high quality pediatric Nuclear Medicine (NM) and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) / PET-CT procedures. Provides conscientious patient care while adhering to all quality and safety standards; to include Safe handling and Management of Radio Pharmaceuticals. Performs administrative duties including but not limited to scheduling appointments, patient instructions, and maintenance of records. This position is responsible for communicating regularly with patients, families, and all hospital and community caregivers while following department expectations for interactions with patients and families.Additional InformationDepartment Name: Nuclear MedicineJob Status: PRN - As neededShift: M-F 7-5. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.Produces high quality imaging while accurately demonstrating anatomy and pathology utilizing proper imaging protocols.Facilitates patient flow daily; to include management of STAT/urgent and high priority patients.Provides age-appropriate care and appropriately prepares patients for procedures.Provides clear and detailed information regarding the procedure and care to patients, families, coworkers, and others.Operates all imaging equipment; to include ancillary equipment following safety procedures and protocols.Demonstrates and utilizes principles of ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) and ensures proper radiation safety practices.Competent in dose reduction techniques and the Image Gently Campaign.Demonstrates and maintains competency and ability to use all aspects of Radiology Information System (RIS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) as it pertains to modality specific functions and use.Demonstrates initial and annual competency in IV placement and securement, vascular access devices and extravasation handling.In the event of an emergency will act as first responder and provide Basic Life Support (BLS) until help arrives.Verifies patient allergies and clinical indications prior to contrast administration.Safely administers contrast using the five rights. Ensures contrast is appropriately ordered and documented in patients' medical record.Assists Provider with procedures as necessary (Maintaining technologist Scope of Practice).
