Linux System Administrator

to support the Department of Defense. In this dynamic position, you will have the chance to work across projects and teams to provide support for numerous specialized Enterprise Applications. What you will do:

Responsibilities:

The specific duties include but are not necessarily limited to the following:Install, rebuild, configure, maintain, administer and document Unix/Linux systems, software, system related products, hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with established standards.Create, document and implement repeatable processes to install, test, upgrade, maintain and patch system environments and software.Troubleshoot and resolve system-related incidents detected during monitoring, by other technical teams, or reported by users.Review Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts/Bulletins (IAVA/B) related to current operating environment and implement remediation plans.Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for routine and non-routine procedures that assist in the management and operation of the Linux Enterprise operating environments.Perform any required re-accreditation actions such as DISA STIG review, OS upgrades, vulnerability scan remediation, and document various required lists (PPSM, H/W, and S/W) during the normal accreditation cycle.Recommend changes to the government for improvement in the operating and/or security environment.Excellent communication and collaboration skills are a must.

Desired Skills and Experience:An active DoD Top Secret/SCI level of clearance (Desired)Information Security/IT BackgroundExcellent analytical skills and attention to detailStrong written communication skills including experience with reports and presentations for executive audiences

Required Skills and Experience:Possess an Active Secret clearance (Will have to qualify and maintain a TS/SCI)Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 7 or more years of related work experience; additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree.A Current IAT Level II DoD Approved 8570-M Baseline Certification (e.g., Security+ce or equivalent) or the ability to obtain within 30 days from date of offer of acceptance.6 or more years of demonstrated experience in administering and maintaining Linux systems and applications.6 or more years technical experience of installation, configuration, and security of server environments.Expert knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) System Administrator and Network technologies and protocols.Experience operating in virtual environments.Knowledge of cloud architectures and solutions.Proven experience with applying various security standards (i.e. DISA STIGs, ACAS).Proficiency in Docker container strategies, automated testing, and monitoring.It is JCS’ policy to promote equal employment opportunities and celebrate diversity.
