ROLE SUMMARY:

The competitive intelligence team at National Life Group is expanding its scope and reach. Our mission is to better understand our competitors to help NLG grow to be a top three life insurance company. The candidate will be part of this growth and contribute to the team's success and attainment of 2025 goals.

New areas of competitive intelligence research are being added to the team's responsibilities in 2025. The candidate will have the opportunity to help shape the direction, structure, and end-product of these new initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The intern will learn how to generate product benchmarking reports, as well as conduct and analyze competitive intelligence using various research tools. They will also gain experience in helping to create marketing content, maintaining internal databases, and managing ad hoc projects, which will enhance their organizational and analytical skills.

Tasks may include:Weekly, monthly, and quarterly report generation of product benchmarking and product interest rates.Research, analysis, curation, and delivery of competitive intelligence from independent research and third-party subscription tools.Assist in providing content for marketing materials and for presentations for use by sales field leaders and selling agents regarding insurance product positioning against our competitors.Competitive scenario-based illustration benchmarking projects with regularly scheduled updates.Creation and maintenance of internal databases to store competitive product information like rates and pricing.Ad hoc projects as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:

Academic work in business, computer science, economics, marketing, mathematics, or statistics are preferred. Rising juniors or seniors only.

Experience with:

Microsoft Office (Excel and Outlook in Particular)Helpful, but not necessary, SQL/tSQL, Alteryx, Python

HOW YOU SHOW UP :

Candidate should have a desire to learn about the annuity and life business.

Assignments will require both independent work and working in a team environment; comfort and confidence with both are required.

Must have the ability to work to deadlines under time pressure and to be flexible and to work on concurrent projects.

Attention to detail and accuracy are requisite.

Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to qualifications, skills, competencies, location, and experience.
