located in Anchorage, Alaska.

What You Will Be Doing:This position will demonstrate an understanding of the concept of the therapeutic milieu and the flow of how the Nursing Units run and teach others. You will lead and personally assist patients in becoming self-reliant in daily living activities, such as oral hygiene, preparing meals, toileting, or preparing for bed. You will also demonstrate and direct others in intervening appropriately (non-verbally, verbally, and physically) in dealing with patients who may harm themselves or others. This position observes and documents patient behavior accurately in an Electronic Health Record (EHR). Additionally, this position will lead staff and patients in maintaining an orderly therapeutic environment.

Minimum Qualifications:One year of specific experience performing a wide variety of paraprofessional psychiatric nursing duties designed to provide care, treatment, and rehabilitation to psychiatric or developmentally-challenged patients. This experience is met by service as a Psychiatric Nursing Assistant 3.

OR

Three years of experience directly working with and providing paraprofessional aide, treatment, and/or rehabilitation services to patients or clients who have been diagnosed with or experience mental illness, behavioral or cognitive disorders, and/or addiction as part of assisted living, independent living, or treatment services, home, or facility setting.

Substitution:Post-secondary education in psychology, sociology, mental health, and/or chemical dependency may substitute for up to twelve months of the requisite experience (2.67 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month).

Special Note:Some positions may require the successful applicant to pass a background investigation, including fingerprinting, as a prerequisite to employment. These requirements will be indicated at the time of recruitment.
