Summary : The Underwriter - Small Business (Commercial) Lending will evaluate the credit worthiness of clients and determine their ability to repay loans and lines of credit including those used to purchase real estate, consolidate debt and/or provide working capital for businesses. Responsibilities include developing financial profiles and investigating credit histories. This is not an entry level role.Salary : Salary commensurate with experience, ranging from $90,000 to $130,000 annually. The exact compensation may vary based on relevant experience, skills, education, training, licensure and certifications, and location.Application Requirements : All applicants must attach a recent resume. This is not a remote role.Responsibilities :Provide underwriting analysis for new and existing credit proposals, including owner-occupied commercial real estate, multi-family/mixed-use properties held for investment, business term loans and taxi medallion financing.Conduct cash flow analyses (e.g. business, personal and global) to evaluate the borrower's loan repayment ability.Analyze balance sheets and gauge the financial ability of loan applicants.Establish loan covenants and closing conditions.Evaluate third party underwriting proposals for prospective loan participations.Prepare loan modifications, extensions and exit proposals for maturing loans and line of credit (LOC's).Assess Dime’s collateral coverage by reviewing accounts receivable aging reports.Identify policy exceptions and incorporate suitable mitigants into credit evaluations.Proactively communicate with loan officers, brokers, and clients during the underwriting process.Participate in client meetings and conference calls.Provide analytical support for senior management as needed.Qualifications :Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (in Small Business Lending); or equivalent combination of education and experience.Strong understanding of loan risk factors.Demonstrated knowledge of credit and financial analysis techniques.Demonstrated ability to independently gather, consolidate, analyze, and summarize data and make recommendations for all levels of commercial credit relationships.Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Excel).Effective time management, written and oral communication skills.Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities
