The Manager of Corporate Accounting manages the development, implementation and/or maintenance of one or more accounting systems and/or accounting processes such as General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Cash Management, etc., in accordance with GAAP policies and procedures. This position designs and/or maintains operational procedures and processes that meet audit standards and improves efficiency. The Manager ensures the integration of data produced into the systems and supports the objectives of the financial analysts, and also ensures the accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of accounting data. This job supervises accountants and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner.
Responsibilities:
Manages the coordination of the activities of the Accounting department with responsibilities for the results and ensures deadlines are met
Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
Establishes goals and objectives for direct reports and monitors and advises on progress
Provides training to new and existing staff as needed
Participates in annual audits, statutory audits and special projects
Works with external consultants or auditors to provide required information and ensure proper record keeping for historical purposes
Manages and prepares schedules used in the preparation of financial statements, tax returns, and all other accounting related monthly, quarterly and annual reports
Ensures internal control procedures are established and followed in accordance with Sarbanes Oxley and in compliance with company guidelines
Frequently interacts and collaborates with subordinates and functional peer group managers, involving matters between functional areas to research and resolve issues
Responds to inquiries regarding financial results and special reporting requests
Provides training to new and existing staff as needed
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent work experience
8+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience
1+ years of personnel management experience
In depth knowledge of accounting theories, concepts, principles and methodologies
Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports
Strong analytic and problem solving skills
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and look ups
Familiar with local statutory accounting requirements
Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks with competing deadlines
Strong attention to detail
Strong leadership skills
Knowledge of Oracle is preferable
This position is based in our Reston, VA office and offers a flexible, hybrid work schedule
The pay range is $120,500- $163,100.
The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is noted above, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience. Verisign offers a discretionary bonus which is based on individual and company performance, and certain roles may be eligible for discretionary stock awards.
