POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Accountant position requires an experienced accounting professional who strives to exceed expectations, thrives in a challenging workplace and will actively contribute to a talented Finance team. The Senior Accountant will have a broad range of accounting responsibilities that include preparing management reports, analyzing financial and operating trends, preparing and reviewing account reconciliations, preparing monthly journal entries, computing allocations of expenses, consolidating financial information for internal and external reporting, and assisting with the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements. The position also involves assisting in the design, preparation and analysis of management reports.

As with all positions throughout IFG Companies, the Senior Accountant should be prepared to identify and act on opportunities to improve existing processes and internal controls, using current technologies. The role does not require but would benefit from experience with insurance accounting and reporting.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Leading key aspects of the monthly, quarterly and annual financial close procedures for both GAAP and insurance-related statutory reporting.

Preparing and reviewing financial statements, related footnotes and supporting schedules, while ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Assisting with the design, preparation and analysis of financial reports and ad hoc analyses used for periodic management reporting, Board of Directors presentations and reporting for other stakeholders.

Preparing and/or reviewing reconciliations and schedules to support general ledger balances and related financial reporting.

Creating and performing ad hoc queries and analytics upon request.

Recommending and implementing process improvements that enhance the efficiency, accuracy and effectiveness of IFG Companies' financial and management reporting.

Documenting procedures and controls to facilitate audits and cross-training.

Performing other tasks as requested.

A very strong proficiency with Excel, and a good working knowledge of Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and other Microsoft Office applications.

Experience with Oracle general ledger applications and SmartView a plus.

Experience with property/casualty insurance statutory reporting a plus.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university required.

Minimum four years of progressive general accounting experience, with insurance-related experience a plus.

Public accounting and/or Certified Public Accountant a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical demands are considered to be that of a climate-controlled office environment, with minimal physical exertion.

Position is hybrid and requires the ability and the willingness to commute at least three (3) days per week to IFG Companies' offices.

Position requires prolonged sitting, extensive utilization of computers and interactions with others in person and via phone.

Position requires the ability and the willingness to travel as required to meet business needs.
