Job Description SummaryUnder general supervision, the Certified Surgical Tech I follows established procedural guides in the preparation of sterile supplies and equipment used in surgical procedures, performs appropriate room duties involved with direct patient care, and functions autonomously as a member of the operating room team. If not certified, evidence of continuous employment in the state of South Carolina as a Surgical Technologist before January 1, 2008 is required. New graduates must obtain certification within 90 days of graduation.Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire. Thereafter, must maintain a Current Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:High school diploma. Graduation from an accredited school of surgical technology or surgical technology military program. 6 months experience as a Certified Surgical Tech.Physical Requirements:Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, and walking continuously. Ability to climb stairs (infrequent), work indoors (continuous), and outdoors in temperature extremes (infrequent). Ability to work from elevated areas (frequent) and in confined/cramped spaces (frequent). Ability to perform various physical activities such as bending, twisting, squatting, pinching, grasping, and fine manipulation with hands (continuous).
