Posted Monday, June 3, 2024 at 4:00 AMOpen to considering Full time, Part time & PoolLocated working at Miami Valley Hospital (Dayton, OH) & Core Lab (Moraine, OH)Position Summary : The Cytotechnologist is responsible for accurately screening and evaluating any gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimen sent to the laboratory for the determination of possible malignancy or related abnormal conditions. The Cytotechnologist must also be competent with Fine Needle Aspiration collection in CT, Endoscopy, and Ultrasound. The individual must be self-motivated, reliable, and able to work with other team members.Responsibilities:Performs microscopic examination of gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens in an accurate and efficient manner.Uses Hologic Imaging system for screening of most gynecologic specimens, as indicated by the manufacturer.Follows established policies and procedures for appropriate handling and reporting of cases.Correlates patient clinical history with microscopic findings for all cases and troubleshoots discrepant findings.Assures accurate data entry for all cases in the anatomic pathology computer system.Performs back-up functions for other areas of the anatomic pathology laboratory as needed, which includes collection of Fine Needle Aspirations.Communicates effectively and positively with patients, clients, and coworkers.Completes Continuing Education hours established for CompuNet technical staff and the Certificate Maintenance Program, if applicable.Handles specimens in accordance with quality and safety regulations to ensure accurate cytologic test results.Complies with all company, department, and regulatory policies and procedures, which include compliance and safety.Contributes to the overall effectiveness of the department and organization by performing other duties as assigned.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree and ASCP Board Certified Cytotechnologist.Experience with both gynecologic and non-gynecological specimens required.Safety & Physical Demands:Complete integrity and accuracy in test performance and results reporting.Read/see small print on labels.Exposure to biohazard substances and hazardous chemicals.Adherence to safety, ergonomic, and health policies.Compliance with PPE requirements in lab or biohazard areas.Completion of required safety training and health evaluations promptly.Proactive approach to identifying and addressing safety hazards, promoting safety awareness.CompuNet offers a full benefits package including Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage, company-paid life insurance, and 403b match.
