The Database Management Specialist will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining complex databases and data warehouses to support enterprise-wide operations. This individual will leverage their expertise in OLTP, OLAP, and ETL processes to optimize data storage, retrieval, and reporting systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with SQL Server, data modeling, and database architecture, with a strong focus on performance optimization, data governance, and security.Key Responsibilities:

Database Architecture & Development:

Lead the design and implementation of OLTP and OLAP databases, ensuring efficient data storage, retrieval, and processing.Architect and develop data warehouse solutions using Star, Snowflake, and hybrid schemas to support business intelligence and reporting needs.Optimize SQL Server databases for performance, including writing and tuning stored procedures, functions, and triggers.Implement database solutions using advanced techniques such as row-level security, temporal tables, and code generation from schemas.

ETL Processes:

Develop and manage ETL processes using SSIS, C#, and PowerShell to handle large-scale data integration from various sources.Design and implement ETL pipelines that support data governance policies and ensure data quality and integrity.Automate ETL processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention, ensuring timely and accurate data loading.

Data Governance & Compliance:

Implement data governance practices in alignment with DAMA-DMBOK methodologies, ensuring data consistency, security, and traceability.Analyze and update existing databases and ETL processes to comply with evolving data governance policies.Work closely with stakeholders to define and enforce data governance standards across the organization.

Reporting & Analytics:

Design and create Power BI reports and dashboards that provide actionable insights while minimizing data latency and concurrency issues.Convert SSRS reports to Power BI, optimizing for performance and user experience in a cloud-based environment.Develop custom reporting solutions using SQL Server and other BI tools to support decision-making processes.

Team Leadership & Collaboration:

Lead database development teams in the design, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise-wide data solutions.Collaborate with project managers, developers, and business analysts to gather requirements and deliver high-quality database solutions.Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior database developers and architects.

System Maintenance & Security:

Monitor and maintain multiple database servers, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.Implement database backup and recovery strategies, including TDE (Transparent Data Encryption) and column-level encryption.Address and resolve database performance issues, including deadlocks, blocking, and other bottlenecks.

Qualifications:

Ideal candidate should be residing in:

Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West VirginiaEducation & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.10+ years of experience as a Database Architect, Developer, or DBA, with a focus on SQL Server and data warehousing.Extensive experience with ETL processes, data modeling, and database optimization.

Technical Skills:

Proficient in SQL, Transact-SQL (T-SQL), and database management systems, including SQL Server (versions 4.2 – 2017).Strong programming skills in C#, .Net, and experience with development environments such as Visual Studio and Team Foundation Server (TFS).Expertise in using ETL tools like SSIS and data modeling tools such as ERwin and Toad Data Modeler.Familiarity with OLAP tools (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS) and cloud-based data solutions like Azure.

Certifications:

Relevant certifications in database management, data architecture, or cloud platforms are highly desirable.
