Senior Estimator Controls.Responsibilities

Position Summary/Primary Purpose:

This position reports directly to the Manager of Estimating and interacts/interfaces frequently with Marketing, Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Sales, and business development. Majority of the time the Senior Estimator will be producing costs based on specifications, drawings, and other input from various sources. The Senior Estimator is responsible for all facets of the estimate assigned including but not limited to: preliminary design, gathering and evaluating quotes, scheduling, and assisting in proposal writing in accordance with the company capabilities and goals. The overall goal of the Senior Estimator is to assist Sales and once a project is sold, produce "as-sold" documents for the project manager to use as a guide for project execution.Major Areas of Responsibility:Prepare detailed accurate material, labor, equipment, subcontracts, construction facilities, etc. estimates.Participate in meetings, projects and activities in support of company and team goals.Perform timely bid submittals and follow up.Develop and review subcontractor scopes of work and accept, review, and analyze subcontractor quotes for best value.Prepare project bid status reports and ensure compliance with all specifications and contract Statements of Work and Bid Invitations.Present cost estimates to meet customer proposals, providing consideration for general and special conditions.Prepare scope specifications and requirements, prepare and input project schedules, perform quantity take-offs, prepare cost summary sheets, and input quantities into estimating software.Maintain an accurate, current database cost codes of accounts for historical data.Review Company jobs and compare on a timely basis to as-sold estimates to confirm accuracy of estimate.Utilize the appropriate company and industry historical data for pricing estimates.Maintain proficiency in relevant knowledge skills and in the use of equipment applicable to the position.Manage estimators and administrative personnel in performance of department.Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.Knowledge:Engineering and Technology - Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.Experience with Allen Bradley PLC equipment and programming.Qualifications

Skills & Abilities:Time Management - Managing one's own time and the time of others.Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.Judgment and Decision Making - Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.Monitoring - Monitoring/Assessing performance of you, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.Verbal and Written Expression and Recognition - The ability to listen to, understand and communicate information and ideas presented through spoken or written words and sentences.Problem Sensitivity - The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.Conscientiousness - Thorough and diligent in one's duties.Education & Experience:BSEE, E.T. or relevant technical degree, or equivalent relevant work experience.Seven (7) years of experience in industrial automation controls design and commissioning.Experience managing a project and related people resources.Experience with Allen Bradley PLC Programming (ControlLogix).Experience within the material handling industry and equipment, preferred.Baggage handling experience, preferred.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Must have good interpersonal skills, be detail oriented, and have the ability to prioritize multiple projects.Demonstrated Physical Abilities:Remain stationary for 50% of the time; move/traverse throughout the office to access file cabinets and office equipment; operate a computer and other productivity machinery; inspect documents; communicate with others through talking/hearing; read/identify/assess forms and correspondence.Outside travel (auto or air) to customer sites may be required.Daifuku Airport America Corporation is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled, and federal sub/contractor.
