Grants Accountant

Grants Accountant - Hauppauge, Riverhead, or East Hampton locations with hybrid opportunity. M-F, 35hrs/wk
Produce all grant related vouchers, budgets, draw downs and reports. Manages budget preparation, financial reporting and cash management related to grant management and budgeting.
Duties include:
Finance Operations
Process/prepare all bank reconciliations
Participate in year-end audit preparation
Maintain depreciation schedule and create related monthly entries
Assist processing grant applications
Supervise accounting staff and oversee payroll, A/P, A/R, and Thrift Store Accounting Operations
Manage special projects and lead project teams
Grants Administration
Prepare vouchers for local, county, state, and federal grants, including preparing voucher packets, posting bills, reconciling contract expenses to the general ledger, tracking grant spend downs and ensuring reporting requirements are met; document personnel changes and budget amendments, create related correspondence
Communicate with program staff to ensure alignment of program and financial objectives
Track and prepare funding foundation renewals; create related documentation, spreadsheets and correspondence
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting and 3+ years of experience in non-profit fund accounting. Must have previous experience with grant budgets and requirements. Upon hire, pass, and maintain DOJ Financial Management Certification
Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Word and formula-based Excel Spreadsheets
Experience with accounting software and strong data processing; Fund EZ is a must and Paychex is a plus
Solid understanding of accounting processes, knowledge of GAAP, and financial and cash management required
Well-organized with project management and problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize standard workload
Valid NYS Drivers license
