Description

The Grants Accountant III works under the direction of the Director of Finance and will be responsible for managing a team of grant accountants as well as reviewing and monitoring, collections and reporting on assigned government (Federal, State, County, City etc.) and foundation grants. The Grants Accountant III must work with the responsible department/program staff to ensure grant spending is appropriate according to grant contract and be familiar with all laws and regulations including the Uniform Grants Guidance as well as nonprofit accounting principles such as restricted funds accounting. The Grants Accountant III is gaining or attaining a full proficiency in a specific area of discipline within the job and is responsible for the day-to-day input for the Grants billing Department.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Highly proficient with accounting system and good understanding of general ledger codingReview and be familiar with assigned contracts - especially the financial sectionManage assigned staff and departments’ funding portfolios and ensure they are updated in the accounting system and any other designated locationsManage and lead preparation of grant budget actual report each month, monitor variances, and present information and support with solution strategies for program staff regularly.Manage assigned departments grant billings by established deadlines and ensure that staff are properly trained on accurate billingManage department staff allocations in collaboration with other finance staff and programsSupport the grant receivable collections to minimize old outstanding itemsLead as the liaison to grantors for all assigned grantsPrepare periodic financial analysis reports according to required timelinesManage budget modifications and new grant budget preparation as applicableAssist Controller and Director of Finance with grant audit as neededKeep abreast of laws and regulations that impact the assigned workAdhere to department and organizational standards, policies and proceduresBe a team member of the finance department and support other departments’ staff as neededCross train as back-up for other accounting staff in the event of emergenciesUphold CRCD’s Mission Statement and 5 Year Strategic Plan

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Four-year college degree in accounting, business, or related field. In lieu of degree, substantial applicable experience may be substituted.3 - 5 years’ experience or education in accounting or related field2 – 3 years’ experience hiring, training, and supervising finance staffSelf-starter with demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and the ability to meet tight deadlinesProficiency in the use of software applications, databases, spreadsheets, and word processingUnderstanding of accounting processes, procedures, and internal controlsStrong research and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced College courses in accounting or related field of studiesAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with ability to create formulas in excel3 - 5 years’ experience in the Non-Profit Industry

SALARY

$75,000.00 - $85,000.00 annually
