DUTIES: Reviews flash reports and financial statements and reconciles the workpapers to the general ledger, as well as presents the monthly flash reports to the Board of Directors. Serves as a backup to the Director of Finance including, but not limited to the following: signing A/P vouchers for Board meetings, board presentations, banking transfers, and monthly bank reconciliation approvals. Assists the Director of Finance in tasks including, but not limited to the following: prepare the annual budget and IURC annual report, provide requests for annual audit, rate case, and others as needed, sets deadlines and communicate year-end needs to department heads, determine appropriations/transfers needed, and review and update policies as needed. Oversees the accounting department for quality and timeliness; assists Accounting Manager with monthly and year-end workpapers when needed; analyzes and reconciles year-end files for annual audit and Annual Finance Report. Reviews and approves journal entries, budget transfers, and requisitions; ensures proper funds are in place and payments are scheduled for semi-annual bond payments; performs analysis for large variances versus prior year and identify trends; oversees and assist the asset management policies and procedures. Conduct internal audits on reporting requirements when required, such as SBOA required contract reporting; assists Director of Finance in ensuring EWSU is complying with all company, local, state, and federal accounting and financial regulations. Recruits for and manages the accounting intern program.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance and a Masters in Business Administration or business administration or equivalent business experience preferred. Five (5) years of accounting experience with a broad knowledge of advanced accounting principles. Strong leadership, supervisory, delegating, and communication skills. Any combination of training, education and experience that provides the knowledge skills and ability to perform the functions of this position will be considered.
