Estimators at Gilbane are heavily involved in generating estimating deliverables required on projects. We are seeking an Estimator II that will work closely with the Special Projects team to deliver services and will have the opportunity to assist with multiple projects at once. This person will also assist with estimates for our National Accounts. As an Estimator II you will:Produce quantitative surveys and accurate pricing for a project from its early inception through an acceptable working budget, GMP, or Lump Sum PriceCoordinate project documents for the GMP and Lump Sum Bid project delivery methodsLead detailed reviews of civil, architectural and structural subcontractor’s scope before award of project contractsObtain and present unit pricing dataResponsible for outlining clarifications and qualifications within an estimateProvide back up for estimates to be used during analysis and reviewSecure and contact sources for cost estimates for all specialty itemsIdentify indirect costs and General Condition items within estimatePossess and apply knowledge of unit prices and the material/labor componentEstablish and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricingProduce manpower estimates to coincide with construction estimateCompile complete estimate/bid package breakdown based on input from othersEstablish estimating protocols for specific types of documentationIncludes managing pre-bid and post-bid process for all trade contractorsCreates bid documents; identify and pre-qualify ample database of bidders and generate bidder interest on a project by project basisQualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONBS or MS degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or Finance3-5 years of relevant experienceOr equivalent combination of education and experienceKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIESUse of Destiny software, On Screen take-off and sitework software tools for take-offsFamiliar with market pricing and trendsBasic understanding of Conceptual estimatingProficient in public speaking and ability to lead large meetings with confidenceBasic understanding of construction law, contract and risk managementBasic understanding of insuranceStrong computer skills with proficiency in Word, Excel, OutlookAbility to read construction drawings and understand specificationsAbility to prepare and interpret specifications, analyze bids, and prepare and maintain procurement records and reportsSalary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For Boston, MA this ranges from $90,000.00 - $123,800.00 plus benefits and retirement program.Gilbane offers an excellent total compensation package which includes competitive health and welfare benefits and a generous profit-sharing/401k plan.
