Answer the call to join the Pacific Marine Energy Center (PMEC) to support our mission to provide practical and innovative solutions for hydrokinetic power generation in Alaska!

As a PMEC Engineer, you will support research, development, and demonstration projects in both engineering and project management activities.

The PMEC hydrokinetic research team is part of the Alaska Center for Energy and Power, which fosters innovative solutions to Alaska's energy challenges and is a gateway for energy-related activity at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

To thrive in this role, you will need advanced mechanical engineering analytical and design skills. Experience in CAD software, such as SolidWorks, is preferred. You will need strong attention to detail and the ability to track and compile project technical deliverables. In this position, you will work and collaborate with engineers, researchers, and technicians to develop new hydrokinetic energy solutions and demonstrate them for Alaska applications. You will also be expected to lead colleagues in your area of expertise.

This position is expected to travel to remote areas of Alaska 3 to 4 times a year.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and two years of research experience at the postgraduate level in a science or energy field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Position Details:

This position is located on the UAF campus in Fairbanks, Alaska, and flexible on-site/hybrid work arrangements may be considered in accordance with UA regulations. This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 80, based on education and experience.
