ResponsibilitiesSummaryThe Clinical Supervisor independently monitors, coaches and supports GEO staff who deliver substance abuse treatment or domestic violence counseling services. The position requires applying and modeling the principles of the "What Works" system through evidence-based practices in all interactions with participants and staff members ensuring that the eight principles of effective intervention are effectively embedded within GEO programming.Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Clinical Supervisor stays current and up to date on evidence-based practices for working with justice involved individuals receiving substance abuse treatment (SA) and domestic violence counseling (DV) services. Understands the National Institute of Corrections Eight Principles of Effective Interventions. Ensures programs are operationalizing the research.Responsible for providing clinical supervision and oversight to Substance Abuse Counselors/Case Managers and other clinical and program staff in charge of delivering substance abuse treatment (SA) and/or domestic violence counseling (DV) using principles of the "What Works" system.The Clinical Supervisor has clinical oversight of staff, which will include frequent and ongoing meetings (weekly, monthly and/or quarterly) with staff providing services to provide necessary coaching and training, professional development, and review of work performed, to ensure staff are meeting clinical and fidelity expectations.In partnership with facility Program Manager, oversees SA and DV services and ensures compliance with established program standards, measures, program fidelity, outcomes and other service delivery objectives.The Clinical Supervisor develops and maintains all internal and external standards, policies and procedures including compliance with GEO, the Illinois Department of Human Services (DHS) and IL Department of Substance Use, Prevention and Recovery (SUPR).Ensures compliance with all applicable Federal, State and Program standards as well as represents GEO and IDOC in local, state and federal initiatives as deemed appropriate.In partnership with Program Manager, responsible for SA and DV orientation, training and ongoing assessment of staff development needs including but not limited to documentation of monthly individual clinical supervision meetings of non-credentialed staff and codevelopment of corrective action plans to be implemented by Program Manager.The Clinical Supervisor coordinates and provides on-going coaching and training on clinical service delivery (curriculum, assessments, treatment plans, etc.), clinical documentation and CEU eligible training to support ICB and SUPR certification and licensure requirements.Ensures training documentation is properly recorded and communicated to Program Managers.The Clinical Supervisor works in partnership with Program Managers in the development of written plans for professional growth to include obtaining / sustaining current qualifications, i.e., CADC, as set forth by 77 Illinois Administrative Code 2060.309 - or other appropriate administrative code.Using QATC tools, conducts clinical files audits, record reviews and announced / unannounced group and one-on-one sessions observations to ensure the development of staff skills and competencies.Working with Research Associate and Program Managers, analyzes program data, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), outcomes, completes all required reports, and submits required reports to GEO, IDOC, DHS and SUPR as required.Leads and participates in staff meetings, treatment team meetings, seminars and workshops to improve and develop programming that supports staff skill development and behavioral change by participants.Provides staff meeting agendas, meeting notes and follow up needs, training schedules, staff performance and program compliance summaries as requested by Area Manager.As approved by Area Manager, provides delivery of clinical and programming services to participants using principles of the "What Works" system in response to work load or staffing shortages.Will participate in documented monthly meetings with their immediate supervisor to discuss their duties and performance for the first six (6) months of employment in their new position. Frequency of meetings thereafter shall be based upon the clinical supervisor's skill level and their supervisor's preference.May assist Program Manager in interviewing, selecting, and evaluating program staff delivering SA and DV services.Extensive travel, including frequent overnight trips, will be required.Performs other duties as assigned.
QualificationsMinimum RequirementsThe clinical supervisor will meet at least one (1) of the following qualifications:
(1) A Master's Degree or above from an accredited college with a major in medicine, chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling or closely related social service major (with a clinical specialty in administration or the human services) or other related field and two (2) years of clinical experience in a health or human service agency which includes one (1) year of working directly with the chemically dependent.OR(2) A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, or closely related social service major (with a clinical specialty in administration or the human services) or other related field and four (4) years of clinical experience in a health or human service agency which includes one (1) year of working directly with the chemically dependent person.
Currently possess certification as a certified substance abuse counselor/substance use disorder/addictions counselor or other approved alternate credential by a statewide certification body (such as the Illinois Certification Board).Meet staff qualifications as required by SUPR and have three (3) or more years of clinical experience in a health or human service agency which includes one (1) year of working directly with the chemically dependent person.A valid driver's license is required.Previously completed training and have experience delivery services related to domestic violence, including but not limited to DV assessments, ACES, trauma informed care, anger management, Partner Abuse Intervention Program (PAIP) and training.Knowledgeable regarding the research on What Works to Reduce Recidivism with the justice involved population and will coach and mentor staff providing direct services on effective, research-based techniques, skills, and practices.Clinical supervisors who have not functioned for the past two (2) years as supervisors in the provision of clinical services will complete a minimum of fifteen (15) hours of specific training on clinical supervision within the first twelve (12) months of employment. Training not provided by GEO will be submitted for prior approval by the Area Manager.If a clinical supervisor has less than two (2) years of overall clinical experience working directly with chemically dependent individuals, a minimum of six (6) hours of training on the diseases of addiction will be completed in the first year of employment as the Clinical Supervisor.GEO Reentry Services LLC.
