to join our Northeast Health Center - Specialty Services team!

PPCW is the largest non-profit family planning and reproductive rights organization in Oregon and Southwest Washington.At PPCW, our Registered Nurses are responsible for providing quality nursing care in Family Planning and Abortion Services. They provide a variety of reproductive health care information and services to patients in an effective, efficient, and nonjudgmental manner. We maintain patient access expectations, compliance standards and strive for patient satisfaction. RNs perform patient evaluations and coordinate lab tests based on patient findings.

Compensation:

Starting rate of pay is $39.04 - 46.66, depending upon experience.

Bilingual premium pay is $1.63 per hour.

This is a union represented, hourly (nonexempt) position.Required Qualifications:Requires education commensurate with state statute licensure requirements for practice capacity as a Registered Nurse in the state where practicing (Oregon and/or Washington).Must comply with licensure requirements for practice capacity and have current license in practicing state(s) with 1-6 months experience in medical capacity, or equivalent.Professional, positive attitude with proven ability to contribute effectively to highly functioning work teams required as it a commitment to Planned Parenthood, its philosophy and goals.Float and per diem RNs must be able to work at all PPCW locations.Bilingual RNs must be fluent in the language evidenced by successful passing of the internal exam.

Essential Functions:Educates patients regarding issues related to sexuality, sexually transmitted infections including HIV, birth control, pregnancy, pregnancy options, reproductive health, abortion (surgical and medication), and permanent sterilization. Provides patients with written literature and refers to other information sources. Prepares and instructs patients with necessary information in order to facilitate understanding and compliance with their procedure and prescribed care.Performs routine medical care duties such as recording patient history, evaluating history for problems, investigating history of problem, and compiling other relevant background information.Evaluates patient needs, may perform limited physical and gynecological examinations under standing orders from the Medical Director; and assists the Clinician with the planning and implementation of patient treatment. May perform laboratory tests such as urine dipstick, hematocrit, HIV testing, and pregnancy testing, and either forwards the results to other licensed providers or relays the information to the patient.Participates in the referral/follow-up process of abnormal pap smears, positive STI tests or other abnormal lab tests.Gives IM injections and performs phlebotomy.Participates in the medication abortion program for the health center.Participates in the surgical services program(s) for the health center – including vasectomy, surgical abortion, and colposcopy/LEEP services. Able to provide conscious sedation and analgesia in surgical and recovery room settings. Provides care in the recovery room; monitors, records, and interprets patient responses to medical procedures so that the patients’ physical and emotional needs are met and documented; assists with ordering supplies for these services; administers Clinician or Physician prescribed medications, monitors and reports patient responses; prepares or assists with mandated reports.Performs gestational dating and intraoperative ultrasounds.Works with other licensed providers and others within the agency to provide education to non-licensed staff regarding service delivery, current medical testing and technology and other clinical practices.Works independently to maintain up-to-date knowledge in the health care field via attending seminars and workshops, and reading relevant material.Supports and maintains patient access expectations and compliance standards.Participate in health center efforts to achieve established goals for productivity.Participate in efforts to achieve affiliate goals on wait time, both in-clinic and on the phone, and adhere to the system for addressing client complaints.
