Brief Job Duties:

Strategic Vision and Collaboration:

Collaborate closely with the Biddeford Regional Center of Technology to align academic and career-technical curricula, ensuring seamless pathways for students.

Work with school administration, department leaders, and community stakeholders to develop a comprehensive strategic plan for student support services.

Represent the Academic and Career Pathways Department on the BHS Leadership Team, advocating for equitable policies and resource allocation.

Differentiated Student Support:

Oversee the restructuring of student support services into two distinct departments: College and Career Counseling, and Student Health and Wellness.

Cultivate strong partnerships with local colleges, universities, and industry leaders to expand dual enrollment, internship, and apprenticeship opportunities.

Spearhead the creation of personalized academic and career plans for all students, empowering them to explore diverse post-graduation options.

Curriculum and Program Development:

Lead the development of a comprehensive career readiness curriculum, integrating it within the high school experience.

Collaborate with departmental staff to design innovative programming that supports students' social-emotional, mental health, and physical well-being.

Ensure the annual BHS Program of Studies accurately reflects the breadth of academic and career-technical course offerings.

Departmental Leadership and Management:

Supervise and evaluate the performance of department staff, including school counselors, college/career coordinators, and student health professionals.

Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision-making within the Academic and Career Pathways team.

Manage departmental budgets and advocate for resources to support the district's student support services vision.

Advocate for students and the school with post-secondary institutions:

Collaborate with COT colleagues to promote career and technical education opportunities.

Care for existing and forge new partnerships with post-secondary institutions for concurrent and dual enrollment through articulation agreements and other cutting-edge partnerships.

Certification/License:

State licensure or certification as a School Counselor and/or Administrator preferred, but novel academic and professional training considered. Criminal History Record Check (CHRC), which includes Fingerprints on file with the Maine Department of Education.

Education:

Master's degree in school counseling, educational administration, or a related field preferred, but novel academic and professional training considered.

Experience:

Previous experience in Pre-K through 16 education for a minimum of 5 years. Work in post-secondary admissions is preferred.

Demonstrated success in leading and managing multifaceted departments or teams.

Extensive knowledge of post-secondary admissions, career development, and student health/wellness best practices.

Proven ability to cultivate partnerships with community organizations, colleges, and industry.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills.

Commitment to equity, inclusion, and empowering students to achieve their full potential.
