In this role, you can use your financial knowledge and analytical skills to ensure the financial health of UFP's companies.Job SummaryWe are seeking an established loss sensitive, Senior Property and Casualty Underwriter with an entrepreneurial spirit to grow a territory for us. This individual will develop and grow a profitable book of excess commercial property and casualty business by driving broker relationships, soliciting target accounts, and developing underwriting programs. This position is best suited for a production underwriter who enjoys customer and broker interaction and has outstanding communication skills and a strong market reputation.Principal Duties & Responsibilities:Meet profitability, account retention, and written premium goals determined by the Director of Underwriting.
Make independent underwriting decisions based on established
underwriting guidelines and company policies to make consistent decisions.
Develop and adjust policies to ensure they meet the needs of clients while protecting the Company's profitability.
Ensure all underwriting activities comply with industry regulations and company policies.
Maintain detailed records of policies underwritten and decisions made.
QualificationsBachelor's Degree in insurance, finance, economics or a related field is strongly preferred.
Three to five years of Commercial Property underwriting and marketing experience.
Certified as a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) preferred.
Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining solid relationships with all internal and external business partners
High energy self-starter, who is resilient and has an entrepreneurial spirit. Goal-oriented and delivers positive outcomes.
Other professional skills required include superior communication skills (written, verbal, presentation, listening), analyzing, problem solving and negotiation skills.
