In this position, the ideal candidate will be tasked with managing and supporting IT infrastructure systems. This will include supporting a heterogeneous mix of Linux, Windows, and MacOS systems, network and server infrastructure, as well as remote connectivity to NOAA and respective services. Expectations include strong system administration skills, maintaining computer networks such as mainframes, VPNs, routers, and other physical hardware.Responsibilities:Design, implement, and maintain a network file server solution for administrative and budget documentation.Perform routine systems administration of network and system devices.Install new software releases, system upgrades, evaluate and install patches, and resolve software-related problems.Ensure systems are accurately tracked in the inventory database.Ensure systems are scanned and vulnerabilities mitigated according to policies and procedures.Perform routine systems administration of network and system devices including system backups and recovery.Maintain data files and monitor system configuration to ensure data integrity.Assist engineers with on-site hardware and software installations.Assist with logistics, including configuration and deployment of desktop, laptop, and network devices.Assist with equipment sanitization and disposal actions, and ensure compliance with records retention policies.Assist with user account management procedures, including creation, deletion, and modification of a variety of user account types.Assist with onboarding and decommissioning procedures for user accounts.Requirements:Minimum Education: BS/BA degree (Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent).Minimum Experience: 10+ years' experience in related field.Desired Qualifications:Prior federal experience working at NOAA.Experience with LAN/WAN management.Experience administering users, systems, and services within an Active Directory or other Kerberos/LDAP directory environment.Experience with RedHat, AWS, Azure, and GCP cloud administration.Experience with Qemu-based virtualization (Ovirt, Proxmox), storage and network file sharing (TrueNas, ZFS, NFS, SMB), and software containerization (Docker, Apptainer) technologies.Familiarity with tools for centralized systems management such as Salt, Puppet, or Ansible, and PXE a plus.Experience administering systems in a Mobile Device Management platform.Experience enrolling systems and deploying configurations and updates using a configuration management system.Experience conducting OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrading administrative tools and utilities.Desired Certifications:MCSE, MCSA, or RHCE.Salary Range:
