DescriptionWhite 7 is a twenty-seven-bed adult inpatient unit. Patients on this unit are general surgical (mostly major abdominal procedures) and multi-trauma patients. It is a fast-paced, exciting environment where the interventions are cutting edge and the patients come from all over the globe for the specialty care our nursing and physician staff provide.Under the direction of a registered nurse (RN), the Patient Care Associate (PCA) assists the multi-disciplinary health care team in clinical support functions to promote a safe, compassionate patient care environment. PCA assists patients with daily living needs, monitoring & reading vital signs, drawing blood, and obtaining EKGs. Responds to patient requests in a timely manner, safeguarding patient confidentiality, monitoring patient safety, and always communicating in a respectful manner.QualificationsCertification as a Nursing Assistant or EMT at time of hire OREnrolled in a certification program to become a Nursing Assistant or EMT at time of hire ORGraduation from an accredited Medical Assistant programEnrolled in a nursing or pre-med undergraduate program with at least one semester of patient care rotations complete at time of hire ORSuccessful completion of the Laboure College PCT programEEO StatementMassachusetts General Hospital is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
