Performs inventory management, operates feeding preparation equipment, maintains sanitation in the feeding preparation room, completes temperature and sanitation records, and performs quality improvement activities.Key ResponsibilitiesUnder the direction of the Clinical Nutrition Manager and in collaboration with the NICU Clinical Nurse Manager, the Formula and Human Milk Technician is responsible for the safe receipt, preparation and delivery of human milk and specialized formulas as ordered in the electronic medical record (EMR) for a 24-hour period.This includes the calculation, preparation, labeling, storage and delivery of all standardized recipes and custom feedings in the NICU and assigned areas.The technician will comply with all sanitation and regulatory requirements including hospital policy and procedures in order to maintain a safe environment. The technician will interact with members of the Nutrition, Nursing and Medical staff team in order to provide accurate and safe feedings.QualificationsMinimum 1-year work experience as a diet clerk in an acute care hospital or demonstrated working knowledge of diet office operations required and completion of one of the following preferred:BS Nutrition Science/Dietetics degree at a US accredited college or university approved by the Academy of Nutrition and DieteticsSuccessful completion of a Dietetic Technician program approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and completion of at least a two year Associates Degree at a US regionally accredited college or university.Completion of the Infant Feeding Technician Certificate Course within 120 days of hire or documented proof of prior completion of the course within 6 months of hire date.Experience with human milk handling or infant formula preparation preferred.Able to understand and perform math calculations and follow precise recipes.Able to work independently and meet deadlines.Excellent organizational and time management skills. Accomplish multiple tasks in an environment of frequent interruptions.Ensure the privacy of protected health information.Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) or similar PC applications and Epic EMR experience preferred.License/Certification/Registration RequirementsFood Safety Management Certification required.Ages of Patients Served -
