DutiesWhat to Expect

The SAC Director is responsible for the administration of the facility to include development and implementation of developmentally appropriate programs, budgeting and financial management, personnel management, program operations, and compliance, among other tasks.

Provides program oversight and accountability for the performance of employees and the safety of children in accordance with DoD, United States Marine Corps (USMC), and local policies and standards. Provides oversight for implementation of a daily schedule of planned activities that stimulates physical, emotional, social and cognitive growth of children.

Recommends modification of higher-level program goals and interprets and applies child development philosophy/principles and USMC policies based on patron needs and program evaluation and assessment.

Ensures the development, implementation and analysis of surveys and needs assessments of staff and patrons to ensure appropriate programming and hours of operation.

Collects and maintains up-to-date statistical data for planning and reporting purposes in accordance with higher headquarters and statutory requirements and for the purpose of maximizing spaces and ensuring that resources accommodate the needs of command personnel.

Participates in the CYP Inclusion Action Team meetings as required. Coordinates staff training that includes reference to food and environmental allergies or physical disabilities, and policies and procedures on special needs accommodations. Maintains supporting documentation on special needs and ensures proper attention is provided for each child.

Develops integrated budget input, conducts written analysis of budget variances as necessary, and prepares justification for funding of program resource requirements and repairs or maintenance of facilities and equipment. Oversees the collection, accurate accounting, and reporting of funds received from patrons. Ensures compliance with all regulations governing the use of appropriated and nonappropriated funds. Adheres to authorized methods of acquisition.

EVALUATIONS:

QualificationsWhat are we looking for?

(1) A Bachelor's degree in child or youth development, youth recreation, physical education, elementary education, secondary education, psychology, social work, or other degree appropriate to the position filled from an accredited college AND 3 years of full-time experience working with children and/or youth.

(2) A combination of education (at least 24 semester hours) and experience that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above AND 4 years of full-time experience working with children and/or youth.

Satisfactorily complete all background checks in accordance with DoD and Marine Corps policy for employees who provide child care services.

Must pass a pre-employment physical and annual physicals thereafter, provide evidence of immunization and be free from communicable disease.

Must complete all DoD training requirements within the specified time including orientation, initial, and annual ongoing training requirements, and required certifications, if any.

Must maintain current food handlers, CPR and First Aid certifications.

May be required to obtain a government driver's license.

Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, and possess strong interpersonal communication skills.

Position is subject to both pre-employment and random drug testing as a condition of employment.

Note:

This position is identified as a Test Designated Position (TDP). The incumbent is subject to random drug testing because duties must be performed with a high level of productivity, reliability and judgment to prevent adversely affecting personnel safety.
