Accountant

supports the department's daily business operations to include payroll, financial budgeting and reporting, research administration and procurement. The ideal candidate will have experience in all facets of financial and budgetary operations, strong analytical skills and the ability to work efficiently with accuracy.Accountant Responsibilities:Performs, reviews and analyzes accounting transactions ensuring completeness, internal accuracy, and conformance with uniform Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).Prepare daily general ledger activities and accounting transactions ensuring completeness, internal accuracy, and conformance with uniform Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).Reconciles and maintains assigned state, revolving, foundation, endowment, and research grants budgets to verify accuracy of transactions and uniform application of policies, procedures, and acceptable standards.Provide lifecycle (pre-award and post-award) research administration for sponsor related funds. Pre-award activities include assisting departmental faculty in the development of budgets and related efforts. Post-award activities include reconciliation of project budgets, preparing budget reports, preparing adjustments and corrections to meet project goals and federal requirements.Administers and maintains assigned accounts to verify accuracy of transactions and uniform application of policies, procedures, and acceptable standards.Examines and ensures integrity/reliability of the financial accounting system. Works with principal investigators, faculty, or staff members to identify potential ledger discrepancies between financial system and departmental records, providing statistical information to isolate these areas and recommending new procedures to prevent deviations or undesirable accounting trends.Receives, analyzes, and prepares various internal/external financial ledgers, schedules, exhibits and summaries along with any assigned databases utilized for financial reporting. Utilizes quantitative and qualitative approaches to develop financial forecast performance.Ensure details of financial transactions are recorded in journals, ledgers, and automated system by others. Adhere to unit and project activities under prescribed schedule.Prepares assigned budgetary transactions (i.e., payroll, accounts receivable, forecasts) on a daily basis.Complete department bi-weekly payroll process, time-leave validation, new hire, separation.Committed accounting to maintain Employee Funding Profiles in the current HRMS to match and align with the research grant award budgets.Manages foreign national VISA processes for faculty, staff and students.Manages procurement needs of the department.Performs other duties as assigned.Senior Accountant Additional ResponsibilitiesMay supervise staff.Assist in defining and monitoring of financial critical path unit and project activities, resolve issues and escalate complex matters as needed to the appropriate contact(s).Utilizes quantitative and qualitative approaches to develop financial forecast performance. Assist in the development of short- and long-term forecast for unit.Monitors and delegates assigned budgetary transactions (i.e., payroll, accounts receivable, forecasts) on a daily basis.Reviews tangible and intangible asset statements and assists in development of lifecycle asset management plan.Performs other duties as assigned.Qualifications - AccountantEducation : Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or Business Administration. Master's preferred.Experience : Two (2) years of accounting related experience using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for Accountant.Other:

Related experience may be substituted for education.Qualifications - Senior AccountantEducation : Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or Business Administration. Master's preferred.Experience : Three (3) years for Senior Accountant.Other:
