What The Role IsThe Senior Analyst of Credit and Energy Risk will reside within the middle-office function supporting the risk management of energy marketing and trading activities across Clearway’s portfolio of renewable and conventional generation assets. This position performs middle office operations, market risk, and credit risk management as well as compliance with energy risk policies and covenants in commercial agreements. The Senior Analyst will ensure that Clearway maintains a risk-oriented mentality as the platform expands into new technology and dynamic market structures, by understanding current and emerging risks across all North American wholesale energy markets. This role reports to the Senior Manager, Credit & Energy Risk.

What You'll Be Doing

Support the build out and ongoing operations for the middle office including daily market and credit risk management activities, establishing effective operational processes and procedures, and reporting to maintain compliance with underlying energy risk policies.

Assist the Front Office functions (energy management, origination, engineering, procurement, and construction) with pre-transaction compliance, negotiation, administration, and maintenance of commodity enabling agreements with counterparties, brokers, futures commission merchants, commodity exchanges and third-party service providers.

Oversee the completeness and accuracy of trade related data which serve as inputs to commodity trade loss limits.

Create and maintain clear, concise, and illustrative dashboards that present positions and exposures for Clearway including a) credit exposures associated with mark-to-market of energy hedges, REC’s, HRCO’s, and RA; b) Value at Risk; c) scenario / sensitivity analysis; d) exposure against position limits.

Report credit exposures, positions, risk assessments, operational risk issues and performance in a timely and accurate fashion to senior management and members of the Energy Risk Committee.

Work collaboratively with Front Office and Back Office staff to achieve productive outcomes for the enterprise. To be viewed by peers as a ‘problem solver’ as opposed to a ‘roadblock’.

Review forward market price and volatility curves used by the Front Office and incorporate into transaction and portfolio valuation.

Prepare materials for the Energy Risk Committee, help maintain current and prior versions of the Energy Risk Management Policy and Enterprise Risk Policy and assist with the annual Policy review process.

Participate in Clearway’s Energy Trading and Risk Management (“ETRM”) implementation and integration initiative.

Ensure that counterparty and contract information is recorded accurately in Clearway’s system of record in a timely manner to meet Dodd-Frank reporting obligations.

What You'll Bring

Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, business, mathematics, or related discipline.

2-4 years of middle office operational experience with credit and/or market risk knowledge in an energy trading or commodity environment.

Experience with operational process development and enhancement of energy-related contracts (ISDAs, EEIs, PPAs), collateral management, middle office reporting, trade reconciliation and ETRM functionality.

Strong understanding of exposure calculations (MTM, PFE), PNL, trading instruments, and hedging.

Detail and process-oriented mindset with ability to lead initiatives.

Communication skills; able to relay complex issues in a digestible, executive-level format.

What Would Be Nice

Direct renewable energy experience

Knowledge of power markets (ERCOT, CAISO, PJM)

CPA/CFA designation (or progress towards)

Advanced Excel skills, PowerBI reporting, and Bloomberg

Clearway will not sponsor nonimmigrant visas for this position (H-1B, TN, E-3, etc.)

The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, relevant and demonstrated experience, education, training and certifications, and other factors permitted by law. This role is eligible to earn an annual cash bonus, subject to personal and company performance goals.
