Position SummaryThe Staff Accountant performs a variety of accounting activities in accordance with general accepted accounting principles and standards to control the organization’s financial resources and ensures compliance with all relevant regulations, laws and reporting requirements. Executes monthly close for individual business lines within the OmniTRAX organization; identifies process improvements to ensure more efficient and effective performance of accounting functions. This role may participate in consolidation and year end reporting activities.The Staff Accountant demonstrates and adheres to the company values of safety, honesty, ownership, respect, and teamwork to ensure a successful partnership with customers and employees that result in OmniTRAX’s continued success.Essential ResponsibilitiesPerform general accounting activities in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles: calculate, prepare and enter various month-end closing entries; maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts; perform and account analysis; coordinate inventory cycle counts and inventory adjustments; and other activities as assigned.Participate in reporting, balance sheet reviews and fluctuation analysis.Prepare audit work papers.Ad hoc reporting and analysis.Assist with research, analysis and documentation of technical accounting issues, as needed.Collaborate with team members and other departments on systems and process improvements; identify and recommend process improvement opportunities.Participate in development and implementation of new processes, procedures, policies and controls.Other DutiesStay apprised of current accounting rules and regulations.Perform other duties and projects as assigned.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesNone.Required Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesBachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.Strong relationship builder with internal employees and external business associates conducted in a professional manner.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; knowledge of methods and techniques of financial analysis and research.High attention to detail and accuracy.Prioritize work and multi-task effectively to meet deadlines and business objectives.Excellent verbal and written communication skills; effectively converse with all levels of the company, customers, and business associates.Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Excel.Professional integrity and accountability.Work in fast-paced, collaborative environment.Required Certifications And LicensesNone.Preferred Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesOne year accounting experience with general ledger and preparing journal entries.Previous experience in Rail Transportation, Supply Chain Logistics, Manufacturing and/or Oil and Gas industries.MBA or equivalent.NetSuite experience or other large ERP software.Public Accounting experience.Preferred Certifications And LicensesCPA.WORK ENVIRONMENTWork in a climate-controlled office and routinely use standard office equipment.TRAVELMinimal, as business requires.CompensationThis position is paid an annual salary.Starting wage: $70,046.Exact salary is determined within the stated range by merit; seniority; production rate and/or quality; geographic location; education, training, and/or experience related to job duties and responsibilities; or travel required by the position.Physical RequirementsRemain in a seated position: 80% of work time.Speak and hear clearly: 100% of work time.Lift office products and supplies, up to 20 lbs: 10% of work time.Stoop, kneel, bend and reach: 10% of work time.Dexterity to write and manipulate keyboard and mouse: 100% of work time.We are proud to be an EEO/Veteran/Disability Employer
