The Molecular Evolution Core Laboratory is actively seeking a dynamic and skilled Single Cell Genomics Specialist to join our team on a temporary basis, with the possibility for this position to evolve into a permanent role. This position is pivotal to our ongoing research efforts to unravel the complexities of cellular biology at the single-cell level, contributing significantly to our broader mission of pushing the boundaries in molecular evolution, genome analysis, and directed evolution studies. We invite individuals with a deep-seated passion for scientific exploration and a curiosity about the genetic basis of life to embark on this exciting journey with us.Job Summary

Provide support services in the operation and maintenance of an academic or research laboratory to include performing analyses; setup, operation, maintenance and cleaning of equipment; and maintaining stock of supplies. Specific duties will be determined based on assignment and unit needs. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: academic and/or research faculty members, staff and students. This position typically will advise and counsel: lab users.Responsibilities

Setup, operate and maintain instruments and other equipment used in performing lab tests and experiments.Order supplies and materials as required; maintain records.Setup laboratory media/equipment for demonstrations.May clean instruments, glassware and other lab equipment.Prepare and process laboratory samples for use in assigned tests.Perform other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications

Educational RequirementsHigh school diploma, GED Certificate or Vocational School DiplomaRequired ExperienceUp to two years of job related experiencePreferred Qualifications

A degree in Chemistry or the Biological Sciences and one to two years of experience in a clinical/research lab setting are required. A basic understanding of bioinformatic analysis for single-cell genomic data is highly desirable.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIESAvailability to work each weekday, and ability to meet timelines is requiredSKILLSThis job requires working knowledge in the use of instrumentation and other lab equipment, laboratory processes and procedures specific to assigned lab. This is not a supervisory position. This position does not have any financial responsibilities. This position will not be required to drive. This role is not considered a position of trust. This position does not require a purchasing card (P-Card). This position will not travel. This position does not require security clearance.Salary range: $22 per hour to $30 per hour depending on experience level. Requires lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 50 pounds. This role is primarily dependent on sponsored research. All employment and assignments are ultimately contingent upon funding.
