VP Investment Accounting Financial Reporting

leads, manages, and prioritizes financial reporting aspects of investment accounting, both regulatory and GAAP, across various asset classes including bonds, mortgage loans, lifetime mortgages, and alternative assets for the Company’s consolidated investment portfolio. This role manages reporting across numerous legal entities under various reporting guidelines including US GAAP, US STAT, IFRS, and Solvency II, collaborates and executes the strategic plan of RGA’s Investment Accounting function aligned with the enterprise strategic plan, and ensures department alignment and coordination with all other areas of the company to achieve corporate business strategies and vision.Responsibilities

Leads and manages work area activities including delivery of financial statements, disclosures, and analysis, establishing and monitoring quality goals, reviewing work completed by direct reports, ensuring quality investment accounting practices and communication to associates and management.Supports Department Lead in developing and achieving department goals to ensure value-added services as well as implementing Global Finance strategies.Initiates and leads projects that improve the efficiency of processes, quality of financial reporting, and strengthens controls over investment accounting.Leads the use and enhancement of multiple investment accounting technology tools for efficient data consolidation, analysis, and visual presentation.Works directly with and supports senior level Investment Department personnel to ensure alignment and integration with the Company’s investment goals, strategies, and operational needs.Leads integration of new business opportunities, acquisitions, and due diligence efforts for investment related matters.Coordinates communication with external advisors as well as local accounting offices to ensure clear understanding of investment risks and exchange of data for proper accounting and reporting.Performs management duties including hiring, training, evaluating, coaching, and disciplining direct reports. Fosters a positive and engaged work environment. Mentors associates and gives guidance on associate development.Works with other functional areas in the Company to achieve efficient and effective accounting and reporting practices and procedures and responds to requests from other functional areas on various inquiries.Collaborates with other members of the Finance leadership team to develop goals/plans/budgets that align with division and company objectives and then manages to those expectations.Requirements

Education and ExperienceREQUIRED:Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent related work experience.12+ years accounting or auditing experience with at least 5 years investment accounting experience and experience in Statutory and GAAP accounting.10+ years management experience.Skills and AbilitiesREQUIRED:Intermediate/advanced level Word, Excel, and SQL/Query skills.Advanced knowledge of broad business practices.Highly advanced people management skills, demonstrating an ability to lead, mentor, and develop associates. Ability to manage associates who are difficult or resistant to leadership.Expert ability to analyze and improve business processes.Highly advanced ability to make timely and effective decisions and produce results through strategic planning and the implementation and evaluation of programs and policies.Expert knowledge of accounting/finance, including investment accounting and GAAP and statutory requirements.Highly advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received.Highly advanced level of investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Expert ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives.Advanced skills in customer relationship management and change management.Highly advanced ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted solutions.Highly advanced ability to manage multiple projects and/or teams simultaneously.Highly advanced ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines.Highly advanced persuasion and negotiation skills when working with internal/external customers.The general pay range for this position is

$143,200-$243,400

per year. Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles, and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan.
