Network Engineer Opportunity!Who We Are:Veson Nautical is a well-established and rapidly growing software company working to provide end-to-end logistical, operational, and analytical solutions to propel the efficiency and effectiveness of Maritime Commerce.The Opportunity:The Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, installing, configuring, and supporting the organization's network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, VPN, and other data communications systems. This role involves maintaining and optimizing systems, applications, security protocols, and network configurations to ensure seamless connectivity. The engineer will manage and troubleshoot firewalls, switches, routers, wireless access points, and other network hardware, as well as monitor network performance to identify and resolve issues. Additionally, the role includes managing backup solutions, implementing security measures, drafting knowledgebase articles and network diagrams, and developing and maintaining disaster recovery plans. The engineer will also evaluate and recommend upgrades, patches, and new technologies to enhance network performance and security. This position includes an "on-call" requirement, scheduled for no more than one week per month, during which the engineer must be available within one hour of an escalation event.Responsibilities:Install and configure network hardware such as switches, routers, and firewalls.Diagnose and resolve network problems, minimizing downtime and ensuring user satisfaction.Monitor network performance metrics and make adjustments to enhance efficiency and reliability.Assist in the design and implementation of scalable network models to support organizational growth.Ensure consistent and reliable network connectivity for all users across multiple locations.Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices related to desktop computing and information security.Provide escalation support for complex or high-impact issues, working closely with users and other IT teams to achieve resolutions.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.5-10 years in a Network Engineering role or similar position.In-depth knowledge of Windows, MacOS, and mobile operating systems, device hardware, and common network vendors such as Cisco, Dell, FortiNet, etc.Proficiency in TCP/IP networking protocols, routing protocols (such as BGP, OSPF), VLANs, VPNs, MPLS, SD-WAN, and other networking technologies.Experience configuring cloud and hybrid networks in Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure.Strong understanding of network security principles (such as firewall configuration, IDS/IPS, ACLs, VPN encryption, DDoS mitigation, and other security measures).Proficiency in network monitoring tools (such as Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds) and packet analysis tools (such as Wireshark).Ability to quickly diagnose and resolve network-related incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.Proficient in documenting network configurations, topology diagrams, SOPs, and maintaining accurate inventory records.Excellent problem-solving abilities and customer service skills.Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users.Ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment and manage multiple priorities.Candidates with industry standard certificates such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, or Cisco CCNA, CCNP, etc. preferred.
