Who we are:

La Rabida Children’s Hospital is the only hospital of its kind in Chicago. As an acute care specialty hospital, we focus on treating those with complex medical conditions, chronic illnesses, developmental disabilities, abuse and trauma.

The Integrated Assessment program at La Rabida Children’s Hospital is contracted through DCFS and works remotely outside the hospital. Our mission is to amplify the voices of children and parents through clinically sound interviews and assessments to disrupt the cycle of trauma and advance the well-being of the child welfare system. The Integrated Assessment program’s pillars include social justice, reflective practice, democracy, and emotional intelligence.

Job Summary:

Serves as the Integrated Assessment Clinical Lead; provides clinical supervision to IA Clinical staff pertaining to their clinical work activities in the IA Program and monitors and facilitates collaborative communication with outside agencies. Supervises Clinical Screener IA reports, the conduct of the IA interviews and administration of IA assessment protocol.

Provides guidance and clinical oversight to the interpretation and integration of the IA assessment results and writing of the IA Report.

Provides the principal clinical supervision to IA Screeners. Meets weekly with each Clinical Screener for clinical supervision. Documents the content of each supervision for the purpose of monitoring and screener growth and development.

Reviews all IA reports to assure all service and intervention recommendations are consistent with the identified needs of the client, family, and caregiver as well as to assure quality and accuracy of the IA report. Assures that IA reports meet all DCFS and statutory requirements.

Facilitates collaborative communication with outside agencies if such intervention is required to increase the efficiency and timeliness of the assessments. Establishes working relationships with POS agency Case Managers, Supervisors and other POS personnel to ensure timely and high quality services are delivered.

Engages in ongoing review of needed changes in the IA template report to reflect the assessment findings and service needs of the client, family members, caregiver and articulate recommendations for change. Ensures the IA Screeners utilize Best Practice Principles when engaging, interviewing and conducting clinical assessments of the client, family members, and the caregiver.

Ensures that Clinical Screeners meet all DCFS mandated timeframes for completion of drafts and final IA reports. Ensures that no more than 25% of reports are partial or case note reports per screener.

Ensures that all needed data is included in each IA report for reporting outcomes to DCFS.

Reviews each screener’s early childhood referrals prior to submission to DCFS for accuracy.

Reviews each screener’s closed case file and CANS to ensure completion within 30 days of SACWIS entry. Reviews each case’s closed files to ensure accuracy of citing in all IA reports, as well as inclusion of vital information.

Attends weekly supervision with the Program Director. Participates in weekly program meetings with supervisory and management staff. Participates in bimonthly team meetings and facilitates case consultation for screener growth and development.

Provides clinical and administrative coverage to the Program Director and Clinical Lead. Provides administrative responsibility for case assignment and case tracking, administrative data collection and weekly and administrative updates to DCFS in the absence of the Program Director.

Participates in the hiring process. Provides new employee training/orientation and all required paperwork, including finding records in SACWIS, reading a CHE, reading a LEADS. Completes all Clinical Screener new employee/annual evaluations.

Shadows each screener on at least one child and one parent interview per year for evaluation and training purposes. Includes this information in the Clinical Screener’s evaluation.

Plans and manages assigned staff toward accomplishment of La Rabida’s mission including recruitment; scheduling; training and development; counseling/coaching; appraisal and recognition; and recommending salary, promotional, disciplinary, and other personal actions in accord with existing policies and procedures.

Job Requirements:

Education: Ph.D./Psy. D. or LCSW. Psychologists and Social Workers must be licensed in Illinois. Psychologist must have completed an APA accredited internship in clinical child or pediatric psychology.

Related Work Experience: Five years of post-graduate experience with the population of children served by this program as well as supervisor/managerial experience and experience coordinating grant funded programs. Must have child welfare experience.

Licensure/Certification: Must possess Illinois license. MSW's must have LCSW.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of DCFS foster care system. Excellent verbal and writing abilities are essential, as are a high level of computer skills. Must be an excellent communicator and team player.

Employee must maintain automobile insurance. La Rabida strongly recommends that the employee maintain the following liability limits:

Automobile liability/$100,000 per person per accident; bodily injury/$300,000 aggregate per accident; property damage/$50,000 per accident; and automobile medical payments/$1,000 per person.

This is a grant funded position. Should the grant funding be diminished or ended this position will be terminated.
