Sterile Supply Tech II- Endoscopy Spotlight

Location: Portland, MEFacility: Maine Medical CenterSchedule - Shift - Hours: Full Time - Day Shift**Current MaineHealth Employees Not Eligible, must be separated for 6 months**Position SummaryResponsible for processing instrumentation and equipment. Stores, distributes, and maintains inventory of required sterile and disposable supplies. Responsible for services supporting primarily for the Operating Room, Inpatient and Outpatient Nursing Units, Pulmonary, Anesthesia Departments as well as satellite offices and healthcare associates outside of Maine Medical Center.Implements critical thinking in a complex work environment. Participates in the selection of safe and effective supplies and equipment to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Must reach Sterile Supply Technician III status within three (3) years after the hire date by passing the appropriate competency and certification exams.Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)Education:

High School graduate or equivalent preferred.License/Certifications:

A minimum of one year of Sterile Processing or Operating Room experience. Competent and proficient in decontamination or at least three technical areas.Manual dexterity necessary to grasp and handle a variety of small, delicate instruments and sound eye-hand coordination in order to adjust and assemble instruments and equipment.Physical abilities necessary to walk and stand almost constantly and to frequently lift and carry trays and supplies weighing up to twenty-five pounds.Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment. Ability to handle problems in a courteous and tactful manner. Must have communication and interpersonal skills. Work efficiently with other diverse work groups and departments.Attend specified number of in-services and ongoing education to support practice.Communication skills necessary to work well with others and to respond to internal and external customers.Additional InformationMaine Medical Center is a Magnet designated 700-bed tertiary care and teaching institution.
