Part-Time Office Clerk - 10 Months - 2024-2025 School Year
Hours per Week: 10 Month-position, Monday through Thursday, up to six (6) hours per day, hours are flexible
Reports to: Principal / Supervisor of Adult Education programs and Alternative Appoquinimink School District High School programs (Twilight, Credit Recovery, Summer School)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following information is intended to describe the overrall nature and scope of the work being performed in relation to the position. This is not a comprehensive listing of all of the responsibilities or tasks; other work may be assigned and deemed appropriate:
  • Know and understand all Adult Education Programs: ESL, ABE, GED, James H. Groves and Alternative HS programs: Twilight, credit recovery, and summer school
  • Work and demonstrate pleasant, cooperative attitude, and professionalism in dealing with other staff members, students, parents, and district staff
  • Performs typing assignments, e.g. correspondence, labels, bulletins, rosters, reports and work closely with the principal and administrator and secretary on various projects, programs, and assignments
  • Responds to requests for information and assistance and assists in budget preparation and financial matters as assigned.
  • Answer the phone, take, and deliver messages to appropriate staff
  • Assist in new student orientation each semester
    • Understand the process of student enrollment, students transcripts, including application, pre-assessment, initial interview, and placement
  • Attend State Quarterly Update Meetings with the Delaware Department of Education (DDOE) and attend biweekly Data for Tuesday State Meetings (DDOE)
  • Work with principal and administrator on the DDOE's platforms Schoology and LACES to meet requirements and responsibilities
    • Input enrollment application information for all students in the Adult Education Database.
  • Understand attendance and grading requirements
    • Enter data such as, but not exclusive to grades and attendance, into LACES
    • Record attendance in the database, distribute attendance sheets to teachers and file student attendance information
  • Complete student follow- up surveys regrading employment, post-secondary education and others and follow-up on inquiries and referrals from potential students
  • Assist in monthly professional development and staff meetings
  • Utilize LACES, Schoology, eSchool, and email as needed and assigned
  • Document program/student achievement and archive student records and process student requests for transcripts/records.
  • Oversee CASAS, Best Plus, TABE post testing scheduling and administrating
  • Any other assigned duties
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Below are the qualifications for this position:
  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate
  • Knowledge of secretarial techniques and office procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with others
  • Typing skills with accuracy
  • Proficient Computer skills (e.g. Word Processing, Spreadsheet)
  • Proficiency in both written and oral English usage and proofreading
  • Ability to coordinate workload to meet established schedules/deadlines
  • Demonstrates ability to make decisions, to work under pressure and to exercise good judgment, discretion, and confidentiality in performance of duties
  • Ability to coordinate workload to meet established schedules/deadlines
  • Demonstrates pleasant, cooperative attitude
  • Demonstrates good attendance record (school or employment)
  • Effective communication skills

Frequently sitting and/or remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
The work of this class is generally performed in a school environment. Work may require the ability to move around the school and office spaces.

  • All persons employed by the Appoquinimink School District are required to submit a criminal background check and a tuberculosis test.
  • Anyone offered employment is required to provide the following: proper identification (Social Security Card and Driver's License), documentation of eligibility for employment in the U.S.A., completion of I-9 form, and completion of paperwork for the Delaware Child Protection Registry.
