This is a full-time, benefit eligible position. The schedule is Monday - Friday 8:00am-4:30pm, some evening work may be required as well as some weekend fundraising events.

The Family Advocate is responsible for providing advocate services to the child victim and non-offending caregiver and for building collaborative relationships with team members in all ten counties served. They assist with community and MDT education, prevention discussions and educates MDT about the dynamics of child abuse and the process of disclosure.  


Responsibilities 

• Coordinates scheduling of forensic interviews with non-offending caregiver and members of the MDT assigned to the case
• Meets with the multidisciplinary team during the pre-interview discussion
• Reviews the forensic interview process with the non-offending caregiver and obtains the appropriate permission/release signatures
• Meets with the non-offending caregiver to Discuss potential concerns regarding the interview, Provide support, and Assess the needs of the family
• Provides the non-offending caregiver information regarding Investigation process, Legal system, and Victim funds
• Makes contact with the family and/or child two weeks after their visit to the center to and/or for:
o Determine safety
o Family Support
o Future needs of the family
• Makes referrals to mental health and medical providers at the request of the family and/or in conjunction with the recommendations of the team
• Ensures services are in place for families and contacts proper agencies in the event services are not in place
• Attends and facilitates quarterly multidisciplinary case review meetings
• Educates MDT about the dynamics of child abuse and the process of disclosure
• Contacts the non-offending caregiver after case review when there has been a change in the case as advised through the case review process
• Assists in providing training and onboarding to new MDT members, including Children’s Division and law enforcement.
o Strengthens advocacy skills by attending trainings and peer reviews, and consulting with the MDT regarding case best practices
• Follows CACECM Protocols and assists in developing agency policies
• Provide additional supportive services to the child and non-offending caregiver when needed (may include advocacy and support throughout the criminal court proceedings
• Chaperones the SAFE/CARE Provider during the examination if necessary
• Actively participates in any related CAC fundraising events throughout the year, the client and family based on clinical need, including evenings and weekends
• Driving is an essential function of the position
