About the Position

The A2J Forms Content Supervisor and Attorney Researcher is responsible for the management and oversight of the Court Forms Production Team. The Court Forms Production Team is responsible for researching legal issues related to, and designing court forms, instructions and educational materials for self-represented litigants in the Law Library Resource Center. This position will also perform a broad range of project management, legal and technical functions to assist judicial officers and court administration. This position is also responsible for conducting legal research for the court.

Position Qualifications

Education:
  • Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school.


Experience:
  • One (1) year as a law clerk, attorney at a law firm, or other relevant job-related experience.
  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience.


OR

Combined Education And Experience Qualifications:
  • Relevant work experience in a law firm, court or other legal position may substitute for the required supervisory experience on a year for year basis, for up to two years of the required 3 years of supervisory experience.


Other Requirements:
  • Active member of the Arizona State Bar.


Our Preferred Candidate Has:
  • Practiced family and/or probate law in Arizona for at least 3 years, with extensive experience drafting pleadings and motions, and representing clients in court.

Essential Job Tasks

(This is not an all-inclusive list of all job duties that may be required; employees will be required to perform other related duties as assigned.)

  • Research and analyze Arizona statutes and case law, court rules and procedures.
  • Perform a variety of specialized legal tasks for judicial officers and court administrators, to include extensive legal research, writing, editing, and proofreading.
  • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging trends to oversee the evaluation, management, and promotion of intelligent court forms and fillable court forms.
  • Review pending cases with judicial officers in chambers, by email, and by phone.
  • Perform related duties as assigned or necessary to aid in the administration of the case flow before the judicial officers.
  • Review court forms for compliance with laws, court rules or administrative direction, analyzing need for rule revisions as necessary.
  • Act as liaison to the bench and court departments for implementation of new court forms and maintenance of existing court forms.
  • Create, proofread and edit court forms, instructions and educational materials.
  • Provide information and educational materials to the public regarding court rules and procedures.
  • In conjunction with others, oversee production of educational materials prepared by staff for workshops, and other education events.
  • Establish performance goals and objectives for annual performance evaluations.
  • Hire, and train new personnel.
  • Develop policies and procedures, implement policy decisions, and coordinate with other court departments, county departments, community organizations or other jurisdictions.
  • Help provide individual customer service to patrons of the Law Library Resource Center, including forms review, assistance at the LLRC Reference Desk.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Working Conditions:

Sitting for extended periods at a computer, reading and writing. Sitting at a forms review desk and reference desk, to provide customer service. Going to chambers of judicial officers to retrieve files and discuss issues.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will need to communicate clearly, perceive details of objects that are close by, and maintain various physical positions for extended periods, such as sitting, standing, or walking. The job may involve using hands for tasks such as typing, handling objects, or operating tools, as well as reaching with hands and arms. Occasionally, the employee may be required to move or lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.

Typically, successful candidates are hired at a salary rate up to the midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.

The Judicial Branch of Arizona in Maricopa County participates in the State Retirement systems ASRS or PSPRS. As such, mandatory membership for all full-time employees includes payroll deducted contributions consistent with each retirement system's requirements. The current contribution rate for ASRS is 12.27% and the current contribution rate for PSPRS is 5.84% and up for the defined contribution plan and 8.82% for the defined benefit plan. Judicial Branch facilities are located throughout Maricopa County. This position may be reassigned to other locations. Assignments will be made based upon the needs of the department.
