The Van Andel Institute (VAI) is seeking to hire a full-time Programmer Analyst . The role of this position is to support the mission and goals of the Institute by serving as a Programmer Analyst supporting application integrations and custom web applications. Note : This position is full-time hybrid with a minimum of 3 days on-site a week. Qualified candidates must reside in Michigan within a reasonable driving distance of the Institute located in Grand Rapids, MI. Relocation assistance will be considered for a candidate with Workday integration experience. Your responsibilities will include: Maintain integrations for purchased software with a focus on the Workday ERP system. Collaborate with IT team members, business staff, and end users to resolve integration/application related issues and gather requirements for enhancements. Review new application/integration features for purchased applications and make recommendations on implementing features. Maintain custom web applications and work with other Programmer Analysts to ensure development and security best practices are followed. Design, develop, and perform system analysis functions required to create application integrations and web applications. Review and analyze existing applications and integrations for efficiency, effectiveness, and security. Update documentation for integrations, web applications, and other IT related processes. Serve as second level Service Desk support for applications supported by the IT Applications team. Participate in IT related projects and initiatives as assigned. Perform all other duties as assigned. What you will need: BS/BA in Computer Science, Information Systems, or another related field (or related work experience). Experience supporting integrations with purchased applications using web services (SOAP, REST). Experience supporting ERP (Workday, Lawson, Oracle, SAP, etc.) integrations and knowledge of Finance, Grant, HR/Benefits, Payroll or Supply Chain functions and business processes preferred. Proficiency in the Workday Integration toolset (Java, Eclipse, Studio, XML, XSLT, Connectors, Reports, BIRT, EIB, Business Processes) preferred. If the selected candidate does not have Workday Integration experience, training will be offered, but the candidate must complete the required Workday training courses during the first 12 months of employment. 3 years of professional experience supporting and developing custom web applications using Microsoft development tools (C#, ASP.NET, .Net Core, HTML, JavaScript, SQL, PowerShell). Experience migrating web applications to Azure/AWS is a bonus. Working knowledge of relational databases and familiarity with reporting applications. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Able to explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience. Comfortable working with people at all levels of the organization. Discretion in handling confidential information.
