Reports to : Lalmba President & VP of OperationsPosition Overview : Guided by the charitable vision of its founders 60 years ago, Lalmba empowers rural communities in Kenya and Ethiopia through high quality basic health care along with dynamic public health programs, microfinance assistance and support for vulnerable children. In line with Lalmba’s mission of empowerment, the teams working with Lalmba in those countries are made up of paid, local staff and international volunteers. Lalmba is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator in a part-time, volunteer position, to grow its community of dedicated volunteers.The Volunteer Coordinator will provide operational support to volunteer candidates and current volunteers and staff working with Lalmba Association in its international project sites. This role will manage several phases of the volunteer cycle, from working with staff to design and recruit for open positions, to screening candidates and assisting volunteers during their time with Lalmba.The Volunteer Coordinator will work remotely with oversight from the Lalmba leadership team in the US, in support of Lalmba’s ongoing work in Ethiopia and Kenya.Key Responsibilities:Acting as first point of contact for inquiries about Lalmba volunteer program, providing prompt responses and follow-up actions.Providing prompt follow-up and coordinating all steps of the candidate process, from initial contact to onboarding and arrival at Lalmba project site.Managing volunteer position postings to insure online posted positions match positions and job descriptions needed at Lalmba project sites.
Updating/editing external website postings as neededWorking with Lalmba staff for edits to postings on Lalmba website
Working with leadership team to create and update volunteer position job descriptions.Conducting first round screening and intro calls with volunteer candidates.Track volunteer applications, including submission of application materials: resume, CV, licenses, clearance documents, etc.Ensuring that all relevant reference checks and background checks are completed for volunteer candidates.Providing logistical support for advanced stages of volunteer candidate interviews with Lalmba staff, including scheduling, managing online/call meeting setup, sharing interview materials, etc.Helping incoming volunteers with logistics as they book flight(s) to Lalmba project site for start of volunteer position.Working with in-country staff and leadership to book accommodations and in-country travel for volunteers.Hosting quarterly check-in calls with volunteers during their term with Lalmba.Conducting exit interviews with outgoing volunteers.Assisting Lalmba social media/communications team with content related to volunteers.Preferred Qualifications:Willing to commit to a minimum of 6 months in the Volunteer Coordinator position.Able to manage a volunteer schedule of approximately 10-15 hours per month.
